Position Summary

The Quality Engineer I develops, qualifies, releases, and continuously improves the quality of the products delivered.

Job Duties

  • Designs and draws in Creo from verbal, print, and written instructions gages and inspection work holding with specific dimensioning for fabrication in our tool room or outside source.
  • Plans, arranges, and performs all design work from concept to construct. Alters and repairs intricately designed gages and inspection work holding.
  • Ensures the quality, workmanship, and dimensional accuracy of assigned work based on provided concepts, while ensuring that all assigned work is completed within the required deadlines.
  • Collaborates with Manufacturing Engineers, Quality Engineers, Design Engineers, Supervisors, and shop employees to develop concepts for new gages and solve existing gage problems.
  • Maintains lists of work tasks involving the support of departments throughout the facility and communicates the status of those tasks to the customer.
  • Manages part revisions, assemblies, drawings, and documents within the database (PTC).
  • Works to facilitate and approve gage design with outside suppliers when applicable.

Educational Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) with seven years of quality experience; or
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.

Experience Requirements

No experience required with bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field with one year quality experience preferred. Seven years of quality experience is required without a degree.

Skills and Competencies

All FN America employees are expected to demonstrate accountability, collaboration, communication, customer focus, and innovation. Additional requirements of this position include:

  • Ability to comply with all established methods, quality standards, and time schedules.
  • Working knowledge or ability to work with government and industry quality assurance codes and standards.
  • Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Basic knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) concepts, charts, and systems.
  • Working knowledge of or ability to learn various quality system methodologies such as 8D, Lean, 5 Whys, Pareto Analysis, Six Sigma, design failure mode and effect analysis (DFMEA), product failure mode and effect analysis (PFEMA), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), SPC, Measurement Systems Analysis, etc.
  • Quality assurance and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
  • Customer service skills, including customer needs assessment skills.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Project and Minitab experience.
  • Knowledge of or the ability to handle firearms and ammunition.

Tools

Microsoft Office Suite. Creo Parametric (or similar) - Required.

Licenses/Certifications

Six Sigma Green Belt is preferred.

Working Conditions

Typical manufacturing environment with exposure to loud noises and dangerous chemicals and machinery. Must be able to lift and move up to 25 pounds unassisted.
