What You Will Do

You will perform physical, dimensional, and visual inspections of rolled, machined, and fabricated products to verify conformance with applicable standards, drawings, specifications, and quality plans.

Your work will include:

• •Perform first article inspections before full-scale manufacturing
• •Conduct dimensional, physical, and visual inspections of manufactured products
• •Use micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other manual inspection equipment
• •Interpret drawings, specifications, quality plans, and inspection requirements
• •Accurately document inspection results and maintain required quality records
• •Gather, chart, and report quality data and performance indicators
• •Work with production teams to complete inspections on schedule
• •Help ensure inspected products move efficiently to the next work center
• •Identify and communicate inspection results and potential quality issues
• •Support other Quality activities and assignments as production needs require

Requirements

About You

You understand that good inspection requires more than knowing how to use a measuring tool. You need to understand what the measurement means, how it relates to the manufactured part, and why it matters.

You may be a strong fit if you bring:

• •A high school diploma, vocational school diploma, GED, or equivalent
• •Manufacturing, machining, or quality inspection experience
• •The ability to understand inspection data and explain how it relates to the manufactured part
• •Strong math skills used in dimensional inspection and manufacturing
• •Experience using micrometers, calipers, gauges, or similar precision measuring equipment
• •Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
• •The ability to read and work from technical documentation and inspection requirements
• •Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• •Clear communication and the ability to work effectively with production and quality teams
• •A commitment to safety, product quality, and consistent execution

Because of business needs and trade compliance requirements, this position must be held by a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident.

Success in this role means providing accurate, timely inspection results that help production move forward without compromising quality.

You will be successful when:

• •Products are inspected accurately against applicable requirements
• •First article inspections identify conformance before full-scale production begins
• •Inspection results are documented completely and consistently
• •Measuring equipment is used correctly and inspection data is interpreted accurately
• •Quality concerns are identified and communicated before products move further through production
• •Inspections are completed on time to support production schedules
• •Products move efficiently to the next work center after inspection
• •Quality data provides useful information to Manufacturing and Quality teams
• •Customer, quality, and safety requirements remain central to every inspection

Additional Tools in Your Toolbox May Include

An Associate’s Degree in Quality Engineering or a related discipline is preferred but not required.

Additional experience that can help you succeed includes:

• •Working knowledge of Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs)
• •Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
• •Previous experience in a machining or manufacturing environment
• •Experience supporting aerospace manufacturing or aerospace supply
• •Experience interpreting drawings, dimensional requirements, and inspection data
• •Familiarity with quality systems and manufacturing documentation

This Is Hands-On Manufacturing Work

This position works directly with manufactured components and inspection equipment in an active manufacturing environment.

You should be comfortable spending your day inspecting physical products, using precision measuring equipment, working with production teams, documenting results, and balancing careful inspection with the need to keep production moving.

Accuracy matters, but so does timing. The goal is not simply to find problems—it is to provide reliable quality information that helps Elmet manufacture the right product correctly and efficiently.
