R&D Engineer - Data Science

What will you be doing?

• •Researching and evaluating state-of-the-art AI and machine learning models to identify potential applications across Smith+Nephew products
• •Preparing, cleaning and structuring large datasets for use in model development and training
• •Designing feature encodings to extract meaningful insights from complex data
• •Developing, coding and training machine learning models using modern data science tools
• •Validating and analyzing model performance using appropriate statistical techniques
• •Creating intuitive interfaces and tools that enable teams to explore and use AI models effectively
• •Collaborating closely within a multidisciplinary, fast paced R&D environment

What will you need to be successful?

• •Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Mathematics, Computer Engineering or a related field
• •Master’s or Doctoral degree preferred
• •1-3 years of experience applying machine learning in an academic or professional setting
• •Strong programming skills in Python, R, MATLAB or similar languages
• •Experience with machine learning and data science libraries such as Scikit learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, NumPy, Pandas or Keras
• •Solid understanding of data analytics and statistical methods
• •Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly explain technical finding
