Summary
The RC Driller Assistant supports the RC Driller in all aspects of reverse circulation drilling operations. This position involves assisting with equipment setup, sample collection, maintenance, and general site duties. The role requires physical strength, attention to safety, and the ability to work in remote, outdoor environments while contributing to efficient and accurate drilling operations.
Housing can be provided onsite.
Responsibilities
Assist in the setup, operation, and teardown of RC drilling rigs and equipment
Handle drill rods, hammers, and tooling during drilling operations
Support sample collection, ensuring proper handling, labeling, and storage
Assist with operation of compressors, boosters, and air systems
Mix and manage drilling fluids when required
Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of drilling equipment
Load and unload equipment, tools, and supplies
Maintain a clean and safe worksite, following all safety protocols
Assist with site preparation, including clearing and leveling drill pads
Monitor equipment and report mechanical issues to the RC Driller
Follow instructions from the Driller and work effectively as part of a crew
Help manage consumables such as bits, rods, and sample bags
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED preferred
Previous experience in drilling, mining, construction, or similar field is an asset
Ability to perform physically demanding work (lifting 50+ lbs regularly)
Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with tools and equipment
Strong commitment to safety and attention to detail
Ability to work long hours in outdoor and remote environments
Team-oriented with good communication skills
Valid driver’s license preferred (CDL a plus)
Safety certifications (First Aid/CPR, MSHA/OSHA, H2S) are advantageous
