The Community Programs team of the Provo City Recreation division is looking for high-performing, adaptable individuals to fill the part-time role of Recreation Instructor in various formats. Qualified, civic-minded Individuals interested in supporting the services provided to Provo City citizens by performing the duties described herein are invited to apply.

What is the compensation?

Pay Rate: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour, depending on experience.

What will I do?

• •Create engaging recreation program curriculum.
• •Promote and market course(s) to the public.
• •Provide energetic classes and instruct students of varying levels.
• •Set up and take down materials for students.
• •Track attendance.
• •Evaluate program success for future modification and improvement.
• •Assist recreation staff as needed and perform other related duties as required.

What requirements do I need to apply?

• •Sufficient knowledge of the format in which you are applying to teach (i.e. computer science, language, martial arts, cooking, art, music, etc.).
• •​Physical ability required to perform the duties of the job.
• •Preference given to applicants with previous instructing experience, experience working with youth, and for interest in and ability to deliver multiple class options.

What are the hours?

All positions are part time. Hours worked depends on the number of classes you teach. Class schedule will be set by instructor and supervisor, must be consistent. Evening hours will be required.

What are the physical and environmental factors?

This position requires bending, stooping, stretching, and occasionally lifting objects that weigh up to 50lbs. This position also requires standing for extended periods of time, and other varied activities associated with performing the essential duties. May involve interactions with members of the public in tense situations.

What is the selection process?

This is an open file posting . Applications will be reviewed in the order they are submitted for any positions available at that time. They will remain on file for a minimum of 60 days. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications listed above to be eligible for consideration.

If selected for hire, candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
