Your Job:

In this highly technical, fast-paced, and rewarding nursing position, you'll collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to demonstrate critical thinking and advance clinical skills in a given specialty. Working with surgeons to plan patient care needs through assuring equipment and supplies are available and functioning prior to the start of each procedure, while training and mentoring staff for the service. Requires demonstration of a commitment to professional improvement and the advancement of Perioperative nursing, through education, research, and clinical practice in support of AORN Guidelines. Works with nurse manager, coordinates, implements, and evaluates change processes.

Your Job Requirements:

• •Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
• •BSN strongly preferred
• •Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support certification required
• •Current license to practice professional nursing in Texas

• Licenses and/or Certifications:
• •Current license to practice professional nursing in the state of Texas – REQUIRED
• •Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support certification – REQUIRED
• •CNOR- PREFERRED

• Additional Requirements per Nursing Unit (Please check what applies):
• Advanced Cardio Life Support (Within 6 months of hire date)
• NRP
• NIHSS (within 60 days of hire date)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (within six months of hire date)
• Fetal Heart Monitoring (within one year of hire date)

Related Work Experience and Other Skills:

• •Ability to interact with professionals in high stress situations. Able to professionally and effectively communicate (orally and in writing).
• •Able to solve problems which include recognizing own limitations and referring problems to appropriate resource.
• •Flexible and adaptable. Knowledgeable of hospital policies, procedures, and nursing care standards and utilizes these when providing nursing care.
• •Work Experience:
• 4 years RN experience
• Experience working in an acute care operating room with strong clinical expertise in selected specialties.

Job Roles:

• •Collaborates with surgeons and schedulers to plan patient care needs through assuring equipment and supplies are available and functioning prior to any procedure.
• •Trains and mentors staff for the service
• •Arranges in-service for any new equipment, supplies
• •Maintains current preference cards and surgeon protocols for specialty as indicated
• •Provides information to manager and director of any new supply and equipment need
• •Participates/leads performance improvement projects.
• •Applies appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication techniques at all times.
• •Employs responsible financial and resource management skills by demonstrating knowledge of financial implications of materials, equipment, and human resources and implementing practices to support the budget plan.
• •Engages in quality improvement activities.
• •Collaborates with other disciplines to facilitate the delivery of patient care.
• •Other duties as assigned.
