This position is in the Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Community Living, National Institute on Disability, Independent Living and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR), Office of Research Sciences, located in Washington, District of Columbia.

Duties

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY You will serve as a Rehabilitation Program Specialist responsible for a full range of professional duties to enable NIDILRR to conduct an integrated, coordinated program of research, research utilization, technical assistance, and training activities that utilize grants, contracts, cooperative agreements. Your daily duties will include: Providing consultation to encourage and promote the organization and the advancement of its disability research programs. Supporting and promoting NIDILRR-funded programs by applying appropriate knowledge, experience, and methodologies from the fields of behavioral, vocational, or social science; knowledge translation; statistics and data management; or aging with disability. Serving as one of NIDILRR's principal spokespersons and scientific program leaders focused on the experiences and outcomes of people with disability related to serious mental health conditions. Serving as project officer for assigned portfolio of grants and cooperative agreements, ensuring appropriate administrative and scientific monitoring of these projects. Preparing reports of the research and associated activities relevant to disability programs (i.e., vocational, behavioral, social science, policy, technology or medical).

Qualifications

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Basic Qualifications: Degree: behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. AND Minimum Qualifications: You must have one year specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service performing ALL of the following: Conducting disability and rehabilitation research and development (R&D) activities that generate knowledge or products to promote positive outcomes among people with mental health conditions. Evaluating disability research findings, trends, and issues related to the experience and outcomes of people with serious mental health conditions, to establish future research questions and development aims. Effectively communicating about disability and rehabilitation research concepts and practices to professional and lay-audiences. Education
