The University of Miami, College of Arts and Sciences - Department of Psychology, has an exciting opportunity for a full time Research Associate 2 to work in Miami, FL.

The Research Associate 2, GAB contributes to the University’s research activities under the supervision of senior staff. Moreover, the incumbent understands, interprets, and complies with research policies and protocols.

Core responsibilities:

• •Performs specialized and complex experiments.
• •Participates in the publication of significant research results.
• •Advances expertise through education, training, and research.
• •Writes extramural proposals to gain support when appropriate.
• •Collects, prepares, analyzes, dissects, and evaluates specimens and tissue cultures.
• •Weighs and anesthetizes laboratory animals for experiments.
• •Operates sensitive and highly complex laboratory equipment.
• •Performs calculations to complete research test results.
• •Performs photography and dark room processing.
• •Participates in training sessions and workshops.
• •Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Department Specific Functions:

The goal of the project is to develop a culturally and linguistically adapted psycho-behavioral sleep intervention for Hispanic couples coping with cancer. The Research Associate 2 will be responsible for adapting the intervention materials and procedures, as well as the delivering the adapted intervention to Hispanic adults with cancer and their spousal caregivers.

Collects, prepares, analyzes, and evaluates study data.

Core Qualifications:

• •Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required.
• •Minimum 2 years of relevant experience required.
• •Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
• •Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.
• •Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
• •Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
• •Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
• •Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
• •Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
• •Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
• •Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
