Job Title: Research Manager, WSJ Sports

Reports to: Director, R&C Adverse Media Delivery

Location: New Jersey; Washington, DC or Barcelona.

About The Role

We are launching a new data product focused on creating and maintaining a comprehensive database of global sports franchises. As Manager, Sports Franchise Data, you will be responsible for managing a team of researchers and ensuring the quality of output regarding franchise registration details, ownership, financials, and key executives. You will collaborate with and support the broader product, sales, and research teams.

You will report to the Director, R&C Adverse Media Delivery.

You Will

• •Lead a team of researchers to ensure timely and successful data delivery.
• •Define and oversee implementation of workflows for the team, aligning delivery processes with global product standards.
• •Hire, supervise, support, and develop a team to maximize potential through motivation, coaching, counseling, and delegation.
• •Have an automation mindset by initiating and driving change to existing team workflows and methodologies to create efficiencies and quality improvements.
• •Help in the planning of research resources for database assignments and for any large ad hoc projects
• •Work under tight deadlines in a goal-oriented environment.
• •Show flexibility to be a team player and collaborate on other projects as needed

You Have

• •Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with senior management as well as team members and peer groups
• •People management skills
• •Deep financial knowledge and an understanding of corporate financials
• •3+ years of relevant experience
• •A professional attitude in client facing environment
• •Ability to work in a high pressure environment with strict deadlines
• •An openness to different views and opinions and an appreciation for team diversity

Preferred

• •Previous people management experience
• •Background or strong interest in sports business and franchise operations

• Base Pay Range: $75,000 - $95,000
