What's on offer?

We're seeking an experienced Safety Manager to support a major infrastructure project as part of a portfolio of current and upcoming road infrastructure works across Queensland and specific to Central Queensland region .

Partnering closely with project leaders, you'll drive safety performance, manage critical risks and foster a strong safety culture across the workforce. Based on site, this role is offered on a Monday to Friday basis, with FIFO from Brisbane, DIDO from surrounding regions, or relocation to Central Queensland available for the right candidate.

This role requires a hands-on leader who is equally comfortable setting direction, leading and mentoring a safety team and influencing outcomes at a leadership level as they are supporting their team through day-to-day challenges. We're looking for someone who leads by example, develops capability within their team and is willing to engage in the detail when required to remove barriers, lend a helping hand and drive positive project outcomes.

You'll have the autonomy to shape strategy, develop your team and drive continuous improvement across the project. Success in this role will come from building trust, fostering accountability and creating a culture where safety is owned by everyone.

Key Responsibilities

• •Implement, maintain and continuously improve the Project Safety Management Plan.
• •Drive the management of critical risks, including plant interactions, traffic interfaces, lifting operations, excavations and working at heights.
• •Lead incident investigations, regulator engagement and corrective action management.
• •Deliver inspection, assurance and audit programs.
• •Ensure safety systems and reporting processes are effectively utilised, with accurate and timely data used to support risk management, decision-making and continuous improvement.
• •Monitor safety performance and implement initiatives to improve outcomes.
• •Support workforce wellbeing initiatives, including psychosocial health and fatigue management.

About You

• •Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health & Safety or a related discipline coupled with solid experience in health and safety, including in a senior leadership capacity within civil construction, infrastructure, mining or other high-risk environments.
• •Experience leading safety on large-scale projects involving significant plant, equipment and contractor management.
• •Strong understanding of WHS legislation, standards and industry best practice.
• •Experience working within ISO 45001 management systems and demonstrated capability leading serious incident investigations.
• •Adapt communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and engage at all levels.
• •Acute understanding of how effective safety management systems, quality data and meaningful reporting can be leveraged to improve performance, manage risk and support informed decision-making.
• •A proactive and adaptable leadership style, with a genuine commitment to developing people and fostering a positive safety culture.
