Safety Spotter / Laborer

Avenal Landfill, a Waste Connections company, is looking for a Safety Spotter / Laborer to join our team in Avenal, CA! This is a full time, long term position with a reputable company.

The schedule is subject to change, but will most likely be Monday-Friday 4:30am-2pm with some overtime, plus every other Saturday.

The pay range for this position is $19-22/hour.

Responsibilities Include:

• •Guiding customers to different areas of landfill
• •Spotting/directing trucks
• •Inspecting loads
• •Paying attention to “hot zones” to ensure the safety of all customers and employees
• •Traffic management - moving signs and cones
• •Ensuring that all customers are wearing proper PPE
• •General site cleanup
• •Performing other assigned duties at the landfill as needed

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

• •Work involves constant exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, toxic chemicals, bio hazardous materials, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and/or loud noises
• •Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
• •Ability to safely climb on and off of heavy equipment in order to operate, clean and inspect.

Requirements:

• •At least 2 years of work experience. Preferably in a safety oriented position
• •Valid driver's license and clean driving record
• •Experience operating equipment and mechanical ability is a plus
• •Ability to work in all weather conditions throughout entire shift
