Job Profile Summary

The Senior Consultant, Tax Technology provides tax automation services to Fortune 1000 clients by performing detail requirements analysis, process design, installation and implementation of tax automation software, testing, and training; and developing client documentation.

Duties and responsibilities, as they align to Ryan’s Key Results

People:

• •Create a positive team experience.
• •Provides guidance and assistance to other and subordinate team members.

Client:

• •Respond to client and internal stakeholder inquiries related to SAP Basis support and administration.
• •Assist with creation of technical documentation and client deliverables.
• •Support managers in the execution of SAP technical project activities, including setup, testing, implementation support, and post-go-live support.
• •Coordinate with infrastructure, application, and project teams to resolve issues and maintain system availability.

Value:

• •Serve as a point of contact for SAP Basis incidents and ensure timely communication with management and stakeholders.
• •Monitor SAP systems for availability, health, performance, and background job issues.
• •Analyse SAP environments, identify incompatibilities or shortcomings, and recommend improvements.
• •Support SAP Basis administration activities including transport management, OSS Note implementation, kernel updates, support packages, client administration, and system refresh/copy activities.
• •Support system patching, maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrade-related activities across SAP environments.
• •Maintain technical and operational documentation.
• •Support secure technical connectivity across SAP systems, including HTTP/HTTPS, certificates, authentication, and encryption-related configurations.
• •Work with infrastructure teams to support SAP application environments hosted on Linux and Windows servers.
• •Support related SAP technical systems such as SAP ECC, S/4HANA, SAP DRC, SAP BTP, Solution Manager, and ChaRM, where applicable.
• •Perform other duties as assigned.
• •Determines the documents business and system processes performed for tax determination.
• •Installs and configures tax automation software solutions, implements indirect tax automation software, and assists with day-to-day project management duties.
• •Creates, executes, and documents testing scenarios.
• •Performs other duties as assigned.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Accounting, or Accounting Information Systems.

Experience :

Mandatory

SAP Basis Administration (3 years) :

• •3 years of hands-on SAP Basis administration experience in enterprise SAP environments.
• •Experience supporting SAP ECC Basis environments.
• •Experience with SAP S/4HANA Basis administration and support.
• •Strong experience in core Basis activities, including:
• •system monitoring and troubleshooting
• •performance monitoring and tuning
• •background job monitoring and management
• •transport management
• •OSS Note implementation
• •kernel and support package maintenance
• •client administration
• •system refresh/copy support

• •Experience with incident management and production support.
• •Strong understanding of SAP landscape architecture and technical dependencies.
• •Experience supporting SAP systems across Linux and Windows platforms.
• •Strong understanding of HTTP/HTTPS and SAP connectivity fundamentals.
• •Knowledge of SAP security and technical best practices, including certificates, authentication, encryption, and secure communication.
• •Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with global teams.

SAP ABAP Development (1–2 years) :

• •ABAP OO, ABAP Dictionary (DDIC), Reports, IDOCs, Enhancements, BADIs, BAPIs, RFCs, and ALV Reports.
• •OData Services, CDS Views, and development using RAP (RESTful Application Programming) in Eclipse.
• •Experience with SAP BTP (Business Technology Platform) and SAP Cloud Platform technologies.
• •Strong understanding of XML/JSON, HTTP, REST web services, SQL, and general SAP database structure.
• •Familiarity with Object-Oriented design principles and modern integration patterns (REST APIs).

Nice to have:

• •Experience with SAP Private Cloud.
• •Exposure to SAP Public Cloud.
• •Experience supporting or administering:
• •SAP GTS
• •SAP DRC
• •SAP BTP
• •SAP Solution Manager

• •Exposure to SAP technical integration concepts such as IDocs.
• •Experience with tax automation solutions such as Vertex, ONESOURCE Determination.
• •Experience supporting upgrades, migrations, or environment build activities.
• •SAP certification in Basis, S/4HANA, or related cloud/infrastructure technologies.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have advanced proficiency in:

• •SAP Technologies: ABAP, RAP, BTP, CDS Views, OData Services, and SAP configuration (SD, FI).
• •Integration and Cloud: REST APIs, XML/JSON, HTTP, SQL, XI/PI/PO, and SAP Cloud Platform.
• •Development Tools: Eclipse, SAP GUI, and modern web technologies (UI5, HTML5, JavaScript, CSS).
• •General IT Skills: Microsoft® Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook, and Project.
• •Additional Skills (Preferred): Experience with Vertex or other indirect tax automation software, Alteryx, and workflow development.

Certificates and Licenses:

Valid driver’s license required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment:

• •Standard indoor working environment.
• •Occasional long periods of sitting while working at computer.

• •Position requires regular interaction with employees at all levels of the Firm and interface with multiple external vendors and clients as necessary.
• •Independent travel requirement: 50%.
