Security Engineer Manager

Responsibilities

Strategy and Direction

• Define and own the strategy and roadmap for the unified remote workspace, spanning collaboration, productivity tools, identity, and zero-trust access, so that employees can work securely from anywhere on any device
• Bring AI capabilities into the workspace in a secure and well-governed way, balancing productivity gains with data protection
• Set organizational OKRs aligned with company priorities; report progress, risks, and security posture to senior leadership

Collaboration and Productivity Platform

• Own the enterprise collaboration platform, including IM, meetings, calendar, and desktop and mobile clients, with a focus on reliability, performance, and end-to-end security
• Lead the productivity tool suite (documents, secure mail, tasks, workflow, and forms), driving integration across tools and embedding AI features such as summarization and meeting transcription where they add real value
• Build and grow an open platform and APIs that enable internal teams, partners, and bots to integrate with and extend the workspace

Zero-Trust Access and Identity

• Own a global zero-trust access platform serving employees, services, and AI agents: multi-tenant, multi-cloud, edge-accelerated, and delivering an experience that surpasses traditional VPN
• Evolve SSO and IAM toward service identity, fine-grained authorization, and internal network segmentation
• Lead the secure enablement of AI agents and assistants in the enterprise, including agent identity, delegated authorization, and human-in-the-loop controls for sensitive actions

Security and Data Protection

• Ensure security by default across all products, including endpoint and mobile DLP, credential protection, audit, and data isolation, with safeguards extended to AI assistants and agents
• Oversee offensive security, vulnerability management, and incident response, and embed offensive security expertise into the access platform through content inspection and behavioral anomaly detection

Organization and Talent

• Lead through leaders: build a strong bench of engineering, product, and support leads, and develop technical owners for each product area
• Evolve the organization from fixed teams to use-case-based dynamic project teams, with product management and support acting as the buffer between business demand and engineering
• Drive team-wide AI adoption and modern engineering practices, including AI-assisted development, to improve delivery quality and efficiency
• Recruit, mentor, and retain top talent; establish clear evaluation standards and career paths

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• 10+ years of software or security engineering experience, including 5+ years leading multi-team organizations as a manager of managers
• Proven track record building and operating large-scale platforms in at least one of: enterprise collaboration and communication, identity and access management, or zero-trust networking
• Deep security expertise in zero-trust architecture, IAM and OAuth-based authorization, secrets management, encryption, offensive security, vulnerability management, and incident response
• Good understanding of how AI is reshaping enterprise workspaces, and of the security implications of AI assistants and agents
• Strong technical depth to review architecture across backend services, clients, and networking; proficiency in Go, Java, or Python
• Experience leading distributed, fully remote teams across time zones
• Excellent communication skills with executives, engineers, and non-technical stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building enterprise products that serve both internal teams and external partners
• Background in real-time communication, such as audio/video or end-to-end encrypted messaging
• Experience building open platforms or developer ecosystems
