Summary

You will serve as a GG-12 Security Specialist utilizing a fundamental knowledge of Department of War (DoW) and Department of Navy (DoN) security policies and directives pertaining to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and overall DoW SCI security requirements. You will provide the full spectrum of security guidance, services, and technical advice in a wide range of security functional areas. This position is located at NAVAL INTELLIGENCE ACTIVITY in Suitland, Maryland.

Duties

  • You will deliver high-quality security services and products while actively driving continuous process improvement initiatives.
  • You will provide assistance in the oversight of Navy Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) Industrial and other SCI security programs.
  • You will advise customers and leadership on security and disclosure concepts, principles, methodology, and practices, as it pertains to the Command and/or Department of War (DoW) elements.
  • You will analyze and identify security educational needs of the workforce and/or weaknesses in the program and provide recommended solutions.
  • You will assess the security posture of the Command and/or supported Department of War (DoW) elements.
  • You will conduct on-site security assistance visits (SAV) for compliance with applicable security standards, regulations, and operating procedures and to ensure Department of War (DoW) equities are met.
  • You will conduct security administrative duties; to include providing support in the execution of Preliminary Inquiry Reports of security violations, processing Periodic Reviews, message traffic handling, and security-related database management.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GG/GS-11 grade level in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector . Specialized experience must demonstrate the following such as: Administer classification management requirements to ensure proper categorization, marking, and handling of sensitive and classified materials; Coordinate security requirements for classified contracts and facility clearance (FCL) to determine personnel access and compliance; Apply comprehensive security policies and procedures to protect sensitive and classified information from unauthorized disclosure; Apply Personnel Security principles, standards, and methodologies to oversee and process background investigations, security clearances, and periodic re-investigations; Develop, coordinate, and conduct professional security education, training, and awareness programs to include initial security briefings and debriefings to diverse stakeholders.
