Job Description

Minimum Requirements:

• •A Fellow of either the Actuarial Society of South Africa or the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (UK).
• •More than 5 years' experience in life insurance.
• •Client focused.
• •Ability to make balanced and sound recommendations and decisions.
• •Self-motivated individual who is able to work accurately under tight time constraints.
• •The ability to perceive, interpret and translate information in order to competently perform tasks and various levels of complexity.
• •The ability to apply analytical, integrative, lateral and systems thinking.
• •The ability to take all relevant detail into consideration in order to make sound recommendations.
• •The ability to communicate complex information to an audience that has little or no actuarial experience.
• •The ability to manage and mentor junior Actuarial Specialists.
• •The ability to engage effectively with individuals across a broad range of disciplines to ensure that projects are completed effectively.
• •The ability to identify and proactively solve issues that arise on a day-to-day basis; and
• •Experience in product design and/or financial reporting.

Job Specification:

Financial Reporting:

• •Consolidation and submission of valuation results (IFRS17, MCEV and SAM). Presenting results to BU Executives.
• •Monthly Reporting – Ongoing monitoring and analysis (outside of valuation periods) of the financial results.
• •Business Planning / Forecasting – Produce the business plan and other forecasts to estimate future financial impacts of the business strategy.

Valuations :

Delivery of quarterly valuations for Corporate Segment and Cell Captives

• •Business Partnering: Extract insights for business consideration and collaborate effectively with both Business and Valuations/Finance teams. Eg monthly meetings with BU Executives for monthly results, BU EXCO meetings, valuation result discussion etc.
• •Support product development and product reviews (Finance perspective).

Risk Reporting:

Producing quarterly risk reports such as Market Risk Report.

Product Support:

• •Maintenance and support of products.
• •In-country support to the Specialised product teams with on ongoing product monitoring and reviews.
• •Reinsurance support eg GAP reinsurance reviews, NamibRe submissions.
• •Product development.
• •Manage monthly product meetings with BU Executives and track deliverables
• •Product procurement forums.
• •Contract reviews (AGP, CS MOUs).
• •Support Rewards project (reviewing calculations and providing in-country actuarial support, review of contracts and annexures).
