Description

Lead a $10M+ market as an employee-owner — help build RYAN's next chapter of growth.

Ryan Lawn & Tree is a 100% employee-owned (ESOP), $100M+ Lawn & Landscape company — and we're still growing. From our roots in the Midwest, we now serve customers across Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Nebraska, with more markets ahead for the people who grow with us. As an employee-owner, you don't just build a business here — you build equity, a career, and a team.

Position Summary

Leads a large, complex RYAN home services market as Senior Market Leader — full accountability for P&L, growth, retention, talent, safety, and operational excellence. Sets market strategy, leads through multiple layers of management, and builds the leadership bench that fuels RYAN's long-range growth objectives and mission.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Owns full financial performance of a $10M+ market, including budgeting, forecasting, and in-year management of revenue, margin, and operating expenses.

Sets the strategic roadmap for the market (growth priorities, capital needs, service mix, labor strategy, leadership capacity) aligned with company goals.

Leads through multiple layers of management (Department Managers, Sr. Department Managers, and other leaders), ensuring capability, clarity, and accountability.

Builds leadership bench strength through development plans, succession planning, and disciplined performance management.

Delivers regular Ryan Performance Connections and annual performance reviews for all direct reports and ensures completion of compensation processes.

Oversees customer experience and retention across a complex customer base, maintaining visibility into key accounts and significant service issues.

Partners with HR on workforce planning, structure, leadership hiring, retention, and change management.

Partners with commercial and marketing leaders on market positioning, account growth strategies, segment focus, and local expansion.

Owns market-level safety and compliance performance, using data to identify trends and drive continuous improvement.

Contributes as a senior operator across markets by sharing best practices, mentoring leaders, and influencing broader operational initiatives.

Maintains an active, visible presence in the field to validate standards, support leaders, and stay connected to execution without acting as a frontline crew member.

Scope of Role

Leads a market with revenue greater than $10M

Oversees 5+ departments through a team of department managers

Responsible for 35+ associates across the market

Serves 5,000+ customers

Demonstrated success leading leaders, developing managers, building succession pipelines, and holding teams accountable for results.

Strong strategic and market acumen; able to read a market, set direction, and translate RYAN's goals into a winning plan.

Entrepreneurial drive and ownership mindset; proactively identifies and executes growth and improvement opportunities.

Senior-level communication skills; adept at coaching, giving direct feedback, and representing the market with associates, leaders, customers, and community stakeholders.

Strong judgment and problem-solving skills; able to make complex operating decisions under pressure.

Proficiency with Microsoft and Google platforms and relevant field-based operating systems.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

Primarily an office- and field-leadership role; able to move about market facilities and job sites as needed.
