As a Senior Claims Consultant – Mass Tort & Environmental, you will independently manage sophisticated legacy and long-latency claims involving asbestos, environmental contamination, talc, PFAS, and other mass tort exposures. You will apply advanced coverage analysis, strategic claims handling, negotiation, and litigation management skills to claims arising from historical CGL, umbrella, and excess liability policies.

The role supports claims across multiple U.S. jurisdictions and Canada and offers significant autonomy in managing complex matters from evaluation through resolution.

Key Responsibilities:

Complex Claims & Coverage Analysis

  • Independently manage complex, high-exposure casualty claims involving historical CGL, umbrella, and excess liability policies.
  • Analyze historical policy language, underlying facts, applicable law, and long-latency exposures to determine coverage positions and claims strategy.
  • Manage legacy runoff claims arising primarily from policies issued during the 1970s through the mid-1980s.
  • Develop thoughtful, well-supported strategies for resolving complex coverage and liability issues.

Mass Tort & Environmental Claims

  • Handle complex asbestos bodily injury, talc, PFAS, environmental contamination, and other mass tort claims.
  • Evaluate environmental exposures involving soil and groundwater contamination and remediation.
  • Manage claims involving large commercial and industrial insureds with significant liability exposure.
  • Navigate complex, multi-jurisdictional claims across the U.S. and Canada.

Litigation, Negotiation & Resolution

  • Manage litigated claims and coverage actions involving Allstate.
  • Partner with internal and external counsel to develop effective litigation and resolution strategies.
  • Participate in mediations, arbitrations, settlement negotiations, and other dispute-resolution activities.
  • Serve as a witness when required.

Financial & Strategic Management

  • Establish, document, and adjust case reserves and financial projections based on evolving claim exposure.
  • Develop and execute strategic action plans designed to move complex claims toward resolution.
  • Provide clear, well-supported analysis and recommendations to key stakeholders.

Caseload & Operational Excellence

  • Independently manage a diverse portfolio of complex claims while maintaining accurate and thorough documentation.
  • Ensure claim files comply with applicable internal guidelines and standards.
  • Work effectively across multiple claims systems and adapt to evolving technology and AI-supported workflows.
  • Communicate complex coverage and claim issues clearly and effectively in both written and verbal settings.

What You Bring:

Preferred Experience

  • 3+ years of experience handling mass tort, asbestos, environmental, or other long-latency claims.
  • Casualty claims experience involving complex coverage analysis, excess liability policies, or legacy runoff portfolios strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing claims across multiple U.S. jurisdictions and/or Canada.
  • Experience with litigation, negotiation, mediation, arbitration, or complex claim resolution.

Skills & Capabilities

  • Strong knowledge of complex casualty claims and coverage analysis.
  • Ability to interpret and apply historical insurance policy language.
  • Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven negotiation and settlement capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to independently manage complex, high-exposure matters and competing priorities.
  • Comfort working across multiple systems and adapting to new technology and AI-supported processes.
  • High level of ownership, sound judgment, and accountability in a remote environment.

Why This Role
