Onsite – Tewkesbury, GBR Senior Engineering Technician

The Senior Engineering Technician is a crucial role within the Engineering Development laboratory team based in Tewkesbury , Gloucestershire. This role supports customer testing requirements on new components destined for flight critical aircraft actuation systems. Day to day, you will develop, build and run design assurance and qualification tests. These tests will be predominantly hydraulic based and include impulse fatigue, endurance, performance, thermal cycling and vibration.

In addition to testing, you will be involved in the assembly and test of prototype components and valves including those with integrated electronics. We are looking for someone with a predominantly mechanical background who also has hydraulic and/or pneumatic experience. Your instrumentation, data acquisition experience, and ability to use electrical equipment coupled with your knowledge of electrical circuits will be key to your success in this role.

To be considered for the Senior Engineering Technician position, here’s what you’ll typically need to bring with you:

• •HNC/HND (or equivalent) in a relevant Engineering discipline. (Years of work experience in relevant field can be considered in lieu of education).
• •Proven experience in a Test and Validation environment (minimum 2 years).
• •Proven experience of building and setting up test rigs and equipment.
• •Selection of test rig components.
• •Instrumentation experience.
• •Experience building hydraulic and/or pneumatic systems.
• •Experience producing test documentation.
• •Proven experience of setup and use of data acquisition equipment and software.
• •Experienced user of MS Office, especially Excel.
• •Ability to accurately interpret Engineering specifications and drawings.
• •A desire to develop a career in the field of development and test Engineering.
• •Working as part of a team, but able to take own initiative.

It would be nice if you also had:

• •Experience of using/programming NI LabVIEW.
• •Experience of vibration test setup using LDS, B&K, M&P or similar hardware and software.
• •Proven experience of competent manual machining skills, e.g., turning and milling.
• •Prior experience of performing documented risk assessments.

As the Senior Engineering Technician , you will:

• •Support customer testing requirements on new components destined for flight critical aircraft actuation systems.
• •Develop, build and run design assurance and qualification tests.
• •Conduct hydraulic-based testing including impulse fatigue, endurance, performance, thermal cycling and vibration testing.
• •Assemble and test prototype components and valves, including those with integrated electronics.
• •Build and set up test rigs and associated equipment.
• •Configure instrumentation and data acquisition equipment to support testing activities.
• •Utilize electrical equipment and apply knowledge of electrical circuits during development and test activities.
• •Interpret engineering specifications and drawings to support test execution and validation activities.
• •Work collaboratively as part of the Engineering Development laboratory team while taking initiative where required.
