We are looking for an experienced Estimation Engineer with strong expertise in pressure vessel components, heavy fabrication, steel materials, and cost estimation. The role will be responsible for preparing accurate technical-commercial estimates and quotations for components such as dished ends, rolled shells, cones, expansion bellows, and explosion-bonded clad plates .

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of steel materials and forming processes, excellent drawing interpretation skills, and the commercial judgement required to optimise material utilisation and develop competitive quotations.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

• •Prepare accurate cost estimates, quotations, and technical-commercial offers for pressure vessel and heavy fabrication components.
• •Estimate components including dished ends, rolled shells, cones, expansion bellows, and explosion-bonded clad plates .
• •Study customer enquiries, drawings, datasheets, specifications, and technical requirements to establish project scope.
• •Determine appropriate materials, forming requirements, manufacturing processes, and technical assumptions.
• •Calculate raw material requirements, plate sizes, weights, nesting, and material utilisation to optimise project costs.
• •Evaluate steel material requirements across carbon steel, stainless steel, alloy steel, clad plates, and related grades .
• •Coordinate with steel mills and material traders to understand plate availability, grades, thickness ranges, rolling capabilities, heat treatment requirements, and delivery lead times.
• •Coordinate with Sales, Production, QA, and Purchase teams to validate manufacturability, material availability, costing assumptions, and project timelines.
• •Prepare and review technical-commercial proposals, including pricing, terms, exclusions, deviations, and delivery conditions .
• •Maintain accurate estimation and enquiry registers and track opportunities through the quotation process.
• •Follow up on enquiries and support the conversion of qualified opportunities into firm orders.
• •Read, interpret, develop, and modify AutoCAD drawings and layouts as required for estimation and technical offer preparation.
• •Review pressure vessel component drawings and identify technical requirements, material specifications, and manufacturing considerations.
• •Support internal teams with estimation-related technical and commercial clarifications.
• •Maintain accurate estimation documentation and ensure quotations are prepared within required timelines.

What Makes You a Great Fit

• •5+ years of relevant experience in estimation, costing, pressure vessels, heavy fabrication, forming, static equipment, or a related engineering environment.
• •BE/B.Tech or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
• •Hands-on experience estimating pressure vessel components, dished ends, clad plates, or heavy forming components .
• •Strong knowledge of steel materials, including carbon steel, stainless steel, clad, and alloy grades .
• •Familiarity with material specifications such as SA 516, SA 240, SA 264 , and similar standards.
• •Good understanding of steel mill capabilities, including rolling ranges, plate sizes, grades, thickness limitations, heat treatment, and delivery schedules.
• •Strong ability to interpret pressure vessel drawings, datasheets, technical specifications, and applicable engineering requirements .
• •Proficiency in AutoCAD for reading, developing, and modifying engineering drawings and layouts.
• •Strong commercial understanding of costing, weight calculations, material optimisation, and quotation preparation .
• •Ability to assess manufacturing feasibility and translate technical requirements into accurate cost estimates.
• •Strong coordination and follow-up skills when working with customers, suppliers, and internal departments.
• •Confident written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with colleagues and clients.
• •Proactive, self-driven, thorough, and detail-oriented approach to estimation and enquiry management.
• •Ability to understand changing project requirements, assess circumstances, and take appropriate independent decisions.
• •Strong product and process knowledge with a practical understanding of fabrication and forming operations.
• •Willingness to remain accessible and responsive when urgent customer or internal requirements arise.
