About This Role

The Senior Interior Designer is an experienced design professional who leads interior design on residential projects from concept through construction and serves as a mentor and technical resource for the Interior Design team. They bring deep experience with luxury and residential design, systems thinking, experience with design technology, advanced documentation skills, and the ability to manage high-complexity projects with minimal oversight. Additionally, the Senior Interior Designer develops material collections and design standards and serves as a source of design expertise for the rest of the team. This role is an individual contributor reporting to the Manager, Interior Design.

On a Given Day, Your Work Might Include:

Leads design on projects from presale through construction close-out, managing all associated documentation.

Leads the development and refinement of design collections, including material and finish curation, vendor coordination, and documentation of design standards.

Produces Revit-based interior elevations, FF&E schedules, and construction documentation that meets Azori's documentation standards.

Partners with Project Managers, Architecture, Procurement, and Construction to coordinate design intent through the build process and resolve RFIs and submittals.

Mentors Interior Designers and Design Coordinators on design decisions, documentation quality, and professional development.

Identifies and drives process improvements for design workflows, updating or creating standard work to support team efficiency and documentation quality.

Guides presale homebuyers through complex design decisions and upgrades with confidence and clarity.

Sources products and materials, manages vendor relationships, and negotiates terms consistent with project budgets and design intent, in partnership with procurement.

Participates in collaborative design pods with the internal Architecture team to create desirable and profitable homes that meet the lifestyle needs and expectations of luxury buyers.

Visits job sites regularly to assess ongoing design projects, determine design direction, confirm design intent and to meet with PMs, homebuyers and custom clients as needed.

Proactively researches industry trends, materials, and emerging vendors to keep Azori's design offerings current and competitive.

Serves as a trusted partner and company ambassador for all internal and external stakeholders.

Collaborates on cross-functional projects or initiatives as needed or required.

Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

Technical

Demonstrates deep knowledge of the functional and stylistic benefits of materials, finishes, and design elements used across Azori's product lines.

Demonstrates strong visualization skills with the ability to convey design intent clearly to clients, contractors, and cross-functional teams both verbally and visually.

Ability to manage a portfolio of complex, high-touch projects simultaneously, prioritizing workload and meeting deadlines across multiple production timelines.

Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel for FF&E schedule management and project tracking.

Proficiency with Revit required; AI Motif or AutoCAD preferred.

Proficiency with Salesforce, BuilderTrend, and Bluebeam preferred.

Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.

Expert knowledge of:

Space planning principles and human factors/ergonomics, building codes, ADA compliance, and life safety basics (egress, fire ratings).

Ability to demonstrate client-facing and executive-level presentation skills.

Materials and finishes knowledge (flooring, textiles, wall coverings, surfaces).

Basic understanding of lighting design principles.

Furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E) specification basics.

Construction documentation fundamentals (floor plans, elevations, reflected ceiling plans, schedules).

Concept development and design narrative articulation.

Color theory and application.

Basic understanding of residential design differences.

Ability to create mood boards, material boards, and/or design presentations.
