• Position Description
• We are looking for a Mainframe Solution Architect to design end-to-end technical solutions for complex business requirements across Mainframe and modern technology platforms. The role will provide technical and architectural leadership across the solution lifecycle, from requirements and design through implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.
• The Solution Architect will work closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, architects, business stakeholders, and delivery teams to understand business objectives and translate them into scalable and sustainable technical solutions. The role will focus on Mainframe application architecture, modernization, integration, APIs, distributed systems, cloud and hybrid technologies, automation, and DevOps practices.
• The role will also involve evaluating existing Mainframe applications and recommending appropriate modernization, re-engineering, migration, or integration approaches while ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture, security, performance, scalability, reliability, and development standards.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

• •Develop, maintain, and enhance Mainframe applications while providing appropriate architectural and technical guidance.
• •Perform impact analysis and guide code modifications across Mainframe applications and dependent systems.
• •Design and execute, or provide guidance for, unit and integration testing.
• •Analyze production incidents and provide technical direction for resolution.
• •Support batch and online processing systems from an architectural and technical perspective.
• •Collaborate with distributed teams, architects, Product Owners, Business Analysts, and business stakeholders.
• •Design end-to-end technical solutions for complex business requirements across Mainframe and modern technology platforms.
• •Lead solution architecture and technical design activities, including application architecture, integration patterns, interfaces, data flows, and technology decisions.
• •Work closely with stakeholders to understand business objectives and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
• •Evaluate existing Mainframe applications and recommend modernization, re-engineering, migration, or integration approaches based on business and technical requirements.
• •Define integration strategies between Mainframe applications, APIs, distributed systems, cloud platforms, and other enterprise applications.
• •Assess technical feasibility, dependencies, risks, constraints, and effort associated with proposed solutions and provide recommendations to stakeholders.
• •Lead architecture and solution review sessions and communicate technical options, trade-offs, and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• •Ensure proposed solutions align with enterprise architecture, security, performance, scalability, reliability, and development standards.
• •Provide technical leadership throughout the solution lifecycle, from requirements and design through implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.
• •Partner with Product Owners and delivery teams to break down complex requirements into technical components, identify dependencies, and support delivery planning.
• •Guide development teams on solution implementation and resolve complex technical issues and design challenges.
• •Review and provide technical approval for solution designs, application changes, integration designs, and complex code implementations.
• •Drive technical decisions across multiple applications or modules and ensure consistency of design across dependent systems.
• •Lead Mainframe modernization and transformation initiatives, including the adoption of APIs, cloud/hybrid technologies, automation, and DevOps practices.
• •Identify opportunities to simplify application architecture, reduce technical debt, improve performance, and increase maintainability.
• •Mentor senior developers and technical leads and provide guidance on architecture, design patterns, Mainframe technologies, and engineering practices.
• •Create and maintain architecture documentation, solution design documents, integration specifications, technical diagrams, and key architectural decisions.
• •Collaborate with infrastructure, security, data, cloud, integration, and other technology teams to ensure successful implementation of end-to-end solutions.
• •Participate in modernization initiatives and assist with migration and integration with modern technologies.
• •Implement automation and DevOps practices where applicable.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• •Strong experience with COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, and CICS.
• •Strong working knowledge of REXX.
• •Experience with Endevor/Changeman and File-Aid.
• •Strong knowledge of IBM Mainframe utilities.
• •Strong understanding of Mainframe batch and online processing systems.
• •Experience in Mainframe application architecture and technical solution design.
• •Experience designing end-to-end technical solutions for complex business requirements.
• •Strong understanding of application architecture, integration patterns, interfaces, and data flows.
• •Experience performing impact analysis, technical feasibility assessment, dependency analysis, and risk assessment.
• •Experience defining integration strategies across Mainframe applications, APIs, distributed systems, and enterprise applications.
• •Experience providing technical leadership throughout the solution lifecycle.
• •Experience working with distributed teams, architects, Product Owners, Business Analysts, and business stakeholders.
• •Strong experience in solution design, architecture reviews, technical documentation, and technical decision-making.
