Join Stryker’s Orthopaedic Instruments team and contribute to the development of mechanical and electromechanical products used in surgical environments. This role offers the opportunity to work across the full product development lifecycle, from concept generation and prototyping through design verification, manufacturing scale-up, and product launch. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams while applying engineering principles to develop innovative, high-quality medical device solutions.

• Work Flexibility:
• Hybrid: candidates must reside within commuting distance of Portage, MI and be able to work onsite several days per week.

What You Will Do

• •Design, develop, modify, and verify mechanical components, assemblies, and subsystems for medical devices.
• •Translate user and clinical requirements into engineering specifications and system-level designs.
• •Conduct prototyping, testing, and design verification activities to evaluate product performance and compliance.
• •Analyze and resolve complex design challenges using engineering principles, data, and root-cause analysis methods.
• •Author and maintain engineering documentation, including design records, specifications, test protocols, and reports.
• •Partner with Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory Affairs, Clinical, Marketing, and Project Management teams to support product development milestones and launch readiness.
• •Participate in customer and clinician interactions to gather product feedback and incorporate user needs into design decisions.
• •Support continuous improvement activities by enhancing engineering processes, design methodologies, and development practices.

What You Will Need

Required Qualifications

• •Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• •Minimum 2 years of engineering experience in product design, development, or related technical roles.
• •Experience with 3D CAD modeling software.
• •Experience creating engineering drawings and technical documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

• •Experience with Creo CAD software.
• •Experience designing mechanical or electromechanical assemblies.
• •Experience applying Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles in product development.
• •Experience using Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), engineering analysis tools, and manufacturing processes in product design.

$77,700 - $129,500 USD Annual
