About the team

Strategic Finance is part of Alma's Finance team and reports to the CFO. Our job is to understand Alma's economics better than anyone: we own the top line, the unit economics and the Contribution Margin, and we turn that knowledge into decisions on pricing, partnerships, markets and products.

We are organising the team so that each person owns a piece of Alma's P&L from start to finish: its business plan, its recurring analysis, its key finance processes, its business partners and its Board materials. Depending on the scope, that piece can be payments and partnerships, our existing merchant base, or new business and growth, each with one or more European markets attached.

About the job

Own your piece of the P&L. Build and maintain its business plan, follow its performance month after month, and explain what moves the numbers and why, all the way up to the Board.

Run the key finance processes of your scope. Depending on the scope: pricing, merchant performance reviews, cost and margin analysis, country reviews. You are accountable for their quality, and for making them better at every cycle.

Be a real partner to the business. Work day to day with the commercial, product and operations teams, step back from the numbers, and bring a clear recommendation whenever a decision is on the table.

Rebuild how finance works with AI. Prototype AI-assisted workflows, industrialise the ones that work, and free up the team's time for analysis and influence. Raising the bar on how we work matters as much as what we deliver.

About you

To succeed in this job

Have 6 to 7 years of experience in strategic finance, FP&A, transaction services, consulting or a similar analytical role, ideally including time in a fast-growing company.

Model with ease and think in unit economics: you can build a business plan from raw data and spot when a number doesn't make sense. Querying is largely AI-assisted at Alma, so data judgement matters more than deep SQL.

Have a strong appetite for AI and learn fast. Ideally, you have already built AI-assisted workflows and made them stick.

Take ownership and bring business sense: you make a scope your own, you know when to step back, and you can influence people who don't report to you. You work comfortably in English and have enough French for day-to-day exchanges with colleagues (native French is not required).

And it will be nice if you also

Hold a Master's degree in Finance, Business or Engineering, or equivalent.

Have exposure to fintech, payments or BNPL.

Speak a third language beyond French and English, a real plus given our European footprint.
