Senior System Software Engineer, NVLink Fusion

We are looking for a Senior System Software Engineer to develop low-level software for NVIDIA NVLink Fusion, a high-bandwidth, low-latency interconnect platform for next-generation accelerated computing systems. You will design and implement kernel-mode drivers and embedded firmware, working across the product lifecycle—from architecture and pre-silicon development through silicon bring-up, productization, production, and partner deployment.

You will collaborate closely with GPU and system architects, ASIC designers, firmware and driver teams, validation engineers, and external technology partners to deliver reliable, high-performance interconnect solutions.

What you'll be doing:

• •Design, implement, and maintain next-generation NVLink Fusion features across one or more low-level software layers, including kernel-mode drivers and embedded firmware or microcode.
• •Drive features across the product lifecycle, including requirements, architecture, design, implementation, pre-silicon verification, silicon bring-up, validation, productization, and production support.
• •Develop unit, integration, and system-level tests, diagnostics, and automation across pre-silicon and post-silicon environments.
• •Debug complex hardware, firmware, kernel, and system-level issues across the hardware/software boundary.
• •Collaborate with internal engineering teams and external technology partners to integrate, validate, and debug NVLink Fusion platforms.
• •Develop low-level production software primarily in C and C++
• •Lead and participate in design and code reviews, build technical consensus across teams, and improve software quality, maintainability, and release readiness.

What we need to see:

• •Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• •5+ years of relevant software, firmware, or systems development experience, or equivalent demonstrated expertise designing, implementing, and debugging low-level software.
• •Strong programming skills in C and/or C++, along with proficiency in Python or a comparable scripting language.
• •Experience in one or more of the following areas: operating-system kernels, device drivers, embedded firmware, microcode, high-speed interconnects, networking, or low-level system software.
• •Strong understanding of computer architecture and hardware/software interaction, including memory-mapped I/O, interrupts, DMA, concurrency, memory ordering, and device I/O.
• •Experience debugging complex systems using logs, traces, debuggers, hardware diagnostics, simulation, or emulation.
• •Experience with software engineering practices including technical design, peer review, testing, release management, and production maintenance.
• •Experience collaborating with hardware development teams during pre-silicon development, silicon bring-up, or platform validation.
• •Strong communication, collaboration, and analytical problem-solving skills.
• •Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Ways to stand out from the crowd:

• •Experience using Rust for systems, kernel, firmware, or embedded software development.
• •Experience with Linux kernel development, device drivers, embedded RTOS environments, or microcontroller firmware, including performance, security, or reliability considerations.
• •Familiarity with NVLink, PCIe, CXL, InfiniBand, Ethernet, cache-coherent interconnects, or other high-speed I/O technologies.
• •Experience with pre-silicon simulation, emulation, FPGA prototyping, silicon bring-up, or cross-company platform integration.
• •Experience applying AI-assisted or agentic tools to software development, verification, debugging, or root-cause analysis, with sound judgment around validation, security, and appropriate use.

Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions. The base salary range is 152,000 USD - 241,500 USD for Level 3, and 184,000 USD - 287,500 USD for Level 4.
