About the business/role/team

CoreMod is a multi-year transformation program modernising the RBA’s core technology infrastructure while enabling the safe relocation of its data centre and supported applications. It is a key strategic initiative supporting resilient banking and payment services and the successful redevelopment of 65 Martin Place.

We are seeking experienced Systems Services Engineers to support the CoreMod Server Decommissioning work stream. The role will be responsible for the planning, coordination, execution, and governance of infrastructure decommissioning activities across virtual servers, physical servers, compute, storage, and supporting infrastructure services.

About the role

• •Lead the decommissioning of virtual servers, physical servers, and infrastructure appliances across the legacy infrastructure environment.
• •Validate application migration completion, business readiness, and technical dependencies before infrastructure retirement.
• •Ensure the decommissioning activities follows the standard server decommissioning SOPs and procedures
• •Plan and execute VMware, Windows Server and RHEL decommissioning activities in accordance with approved standards and procedures.
• •Coordinate decommissioning of compute platforms, including VMware, HPE and Cisco UCS environments.
• •Support storage and SAN decommissioning activities, including dependency management, data migration, retention, and backup considerations
• •Coordinate with Networks, Security, Storage, IT Operations and Asset Management teams to ensure all dependent activities are completed.
• •Manage infrastructure clean-up activities including Active Directory, DNS, monitoring, backup, configuration management, and security platforms.
• •Ensure backup retention, recovery and long-term archive requirements are maintained in accordance with business and regulatory obligations
• •Prepare implementation plans, rollback plans, risk assessments, impact assessments, and CAB submissions.
• •Maintain CMDB, asset management records, operational documentation, and support procedures throughout the decommissioning lifecycle.
• •Validate that all application, infrastructure, security, and operational dependencies have been addressed prior to final retirement.
• •Support post-change validation, hyper-care activities and decommissioning sign-off.
• •Assist with updating decommissioning tracking sheets and related project artefacts
• •Identify and manage implementation risks, issues, and service impacts.
• •Drive process improvements and contribute to the ongoing development of decommissioning standards and procedures.

About you

• •Experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi and enterprise virtualisation platforms.
• •Experience administering Windows Server and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments.
• •Knowledge of Cisco UCS, HPE compute platforms, storage environments, and enterprise datacentre infrastructure.
• •Experience with Active Directory, DNS, monitoring, backup, and configuration management tools.
• •Understanding of backup retention, disaster recovery, and infrastructure lifecycle management.
