The opportunity

Altruist is launching and scaling Margin and Options, two of the most risk-intensive capabilities at a modern custodian. We're hiring a Senior Analyst, Trading Credit Risk (Margin & Options) to execute the daily risk surveillance, exception review, and escalation work that keeps these products safe.

This role sits within the Trading & Brokerage Operations organization and reports to [reporting manager]. It is a hands-on individual contributor role with a clear growth path toward the Manager, Trading Credit Risk seat for someone who performs, builds, and aspires to lead.

Your impact

As Senior Analyst, Trading Credit Risk (Margin & Options), you will be a first line of defense for credit and market risk: working daily in core risk systems, catching exposure early, and escalating with sound judgment.

Daily Margin Risk Surveillance

Perform daily reviews in Stream Credit Monitor (SCM) to validate margin requirements, calls, and exceptions

Monitor concentration, liquidity, and volatility risk across margin accounts and flag emerging exposure

Use Sterling Risk Monitor (SRM) to assess intraday exposure, stress scenarios, and downside risk

Track debit balance trends and accounts approaching liquidation thresholds, escalating per policy

Coordinate with the Trade Desk on liquidations required to satisfy margin or debit obligations

Apply collateral treatment rules, including haircuts on fixed income and other security types, in daily reviews

Options Risk Reviews

Run expiration-day and in-the-money (ITM) reviews for assignment and exercise exposure

Identify uncovered or at-risk options positions and escalate for resolution

Support monitoring of OCC margin outputs (STANS) and spread files in partnership with Operations

Regulatory & Control Responsibilities

Execute daily work in compliance with Regulation T, FINRA Rule 4210, and FINRA Rule 2360

Support Reg T extension filings and exception documentation

Maintain clear documentation and audit evidence for daily reviews, exceptions, and escalations

Contribute to KRI tracking and recurring risk reporting

Build & Improve

Provide operational feedback and testing support to Product and Engineering during risk control buildouts

Identify manual surveillance steps that can be automated and propose improvements, including experiments with AI tooling

What you bring

We're looking for a sharp, detail-oriented risk professional who is hungry to grow into broader ownership.

Experience & Expertise

2+ years of experience in margin, credit risk, or brokerage risk operations at a broker-dealer, clearing firm, or custodian

Hands-on experience with margin calls, debit balances, or credit monitoring strongly preferred

Working knowledge of Reg T, maintenance margin, PDT rules, and basic options mechanics

Experience with exception reports and time-sensitive workflows

Technical & Systems Familiarity

Experience with platforms such as FIS Phase 3, Stream Credit Monitor (SCM), or similar credit systems

Exposure to OMS/risk tools such as Sterling a plus

Strong Excel skills; SQL or Python a plus

Comfort working with operational reports and internal tools

Licensing

FINRA Series 7 and Series 63 required

Series 4 a plus, but not required

Series 57 a plus, or willingness to obtain

Skills & Mindset

High attention to detail and a strong sense of accountability

Aspires to grow into the Manager seat and shows it through initiative, documentation, and ownership beyond the task list

Genuinely curious about AI: you experiment with AI tools to speed up analysis, triage, and repetitive work, and you bring those ideas to the team

Sound judgment and comfort escalating when risk thresholds are breached

Clear written and verbal communication for advisor and internal interactions
