Senior Transformation Controller

Are you an experienced finance professional who can combine strong controlling skills with strategic judgement? The Group Strategy & Transformation Office, led by Regina Bruijnaers, is looking for a senior controller to strengthen the financial steering of transformation initiatives across NN beyond Future Ready. In this role, you will act as a senior financial sparring partner to the transformation: review and challenge business cases, track cost and benefit developments, and turn complex transformation updates into a clear, easy-to-follow storyline for senior management.

You will be part of Performance & Analytics, while fully supporting the Group Strategy & Transformation Office. This gives you the opportunity to work at the intersection of finance and strategic transformation supporting transformational business cases and the related executive decision-making, with a clear focus on helping NN translate transformation investments into measurable value.

What you are going to do

• •Review and challenge business cases for transformation initiatives during and beyond the Future Ready programme, ensuring robust assumptions, clear value drivers and alignment with strategic priorities
• •Assess the quality of investment, cost, benefit and payback assumptions, including sensitivities, risks and dependencies
• •Track actual costs and benefits against plan and forecast, and identify deviations, opportunities and attention points that require (executive) management focus
• •Challenge cost and benefit developments with business leads, business units, finance colleagues and the Transformation Office
• •Prepare clear, helicopter view and insight-driven updates for senior management, including Management Board and steering committee materials where relevant
• •Translate complex financial and transformation information into a simple storyline, focused on what matters and what decisions may be needed
• •Support prioritisation and steering discussions by bringing together financial, business and transformation insights
• •Help further professionalise the value management approach, including reporting rhythm, templates, definitions and standards
• •Ensure disciplined adherence to approved business cases and robust financial reporting and filing, working closely with Group Finance colleagues to safeguard accuracy, consistency and compliance

Who you are

We are looking for a senior finance professional who can quickly see the bigger picture, while remaining sharp on the underlying numbers. You are able to identify the few items that really matter, challenge constructively, and communicate your conclusions in a way that senior stakeholders can easily follow.

• •You have a financial, economics, business or related university degree and substantial experience in controlling, performance management, business planning, strategic finance, transformation finance or consulting. You have strong communication skills in English and preferably Dutch
• •You are able to operate at senior level, capturing the helicopter view, judgement and stakeholder awareness (expected from a Hay 18 profile)
• •You have experience with business case review, investment monitoring, cost/benefit tracking, preparing and presenting forecasting and reporting for senior-management
• •You can distinguish key attention items from detail and translate complex developments into a clear storyline for executives. You are structured, pragmatic and curious, with the confidence to ask the right questions
• •You are confident in constructively challenging assumptions and developments, while building trusted relationships with stakeholders across finance, business and transformation teams

Who you will work with

You will be part of Performance & Analytics, while fully supporting the Transformation Office. Your day-to-day work will be closely linked to the Group Strategy & Transformation Office led by Regina Bruijnaers. You will collaborate with transformation workstreams, business units, finance colleagues and senior stakeholders to monitor value delivery, challenge plans and prepare management updates. The broader P&A team combines finance, performance management and analytical expertise. The team focuses on translating business and financial developments into clear management insights and decision support.
