The role

You'll own a portfolio of customers — their search and AI search strategy, their results, and their renewal. You set the direction, defend it to the executives funding it, and stay close enough to the work to know whether it's landing.

Search is changing faster than most marketing teams can absorb. Our customers are senior people who need someone to tell them what that means for their business and what to do about it: a clear recommendation, in an order they can act on, with the reasoning behind it.

We hire for the search expertise and we teach the rest. You'll get structured onboarding on our product, our methodology and the account-management craft before you carry a book. The role will keep changing — the product is young and the market is younger — and we'd rather you came in wanting that.

What you'll own

Strategy

Start from the business: how the customer wins, who they sell to, where growth has to come from. Decide what to do, what to leave, and in what order.

Plan across rankings, citations in AI answers, and the brand presence behind both — and set the measurement frame up front, so everyone knows what you're tracking and when you'll know.

Onboarding and adoption

Take customers from kickoff to first value, and hold the timeline. The first weeks are hands-on: you'll do the work, not just direct it.

Structure content so AI engines can retrieve and cite it, build the entity layer, earn citations off the customer's site as well as on it, and keep the technical foundation sound.

Teach the customer's team to run it themselves, and partner with our editors and specialists on execution.

Account health and retention

Watch the health signals and catch risk early. When performance stalls, diagnose it, replan, and explain what changed.

Relationships and executive engagement

Multi-thread every account: champion, day-to-day users, economic buyer.

Run quarterly business reviews that connect search performance to the business, and keep the customer's team moving in between.

Renewal, expansion and voice of customer

Own the renewal forecast and the expansion pipeline across your portfolio.

Run experiments deliberately, and bring the customer's voice back to product as patterns, with evidence.

How we work

Think first, build second. Understand the business reason and work backwards. The plan can be fast; it can't be skipped.

Momentum, not motion. A strategy is good when the customer's number moves.

Work in the open. What you learn on one account belongs to the whole team, in writing, quickly.

Sprint with judgment, ship it clean. Fast where mistakes are cheap, careful where they aren't. Read every line of AI output before a customer sees it.

What we're looking for

Must-have

5+ years in SEO strategy across technical and content-driven environments — architecture, internal linking at scale, indexing, cannibalization, large content estates.

12–24 months of hands-on work in AI search, with tests you've run and views you've changed as a result.

Experiment design and honest measurement: a test with a control, an expected effect, and a point at which you'd call it.

A client-facing track record owning the recommendation, ideally across many companies rather than one.

Comfortable advising senior marketers, running business reviews, and teaching as much as advising.

You use AI tools in your own work every week, and can point to something you've built or changed because of them.

Nice-to-have

You've pulled and read server logs at a client.

Built AI workflows for SEO or content strategy yourself.

Digital PR, entity or off-site experience, or a track record of steering those functions.

Renewal or expansion ownership in a client-facing role.
