Service Writer

Description

The Service Writer is responsible for meeting with customers, listening to their concerns about their vehicle, suggesting repair and maintenance services, selling new accessories or replacement parts as well as keeping the customer informed of the repair services progress.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• •Listen to the customer description of the problems or service needed.
• •Determine the type of service required and prepare a service order.
• •Engage in upsells and promotions for additional equipment and services.
• •Obtain customer authorization and signatures for all repairs.
• •Present the repair order to Foreman for dispatch.
• •Prepare and present the customer with quotes for all repairs.
• •Communicate with the customer and Foreman during repairs.
• •Work with the Foreman to ensure the repair is completed.
• •Prepare and invoice Repair Order (RO).
• •Contact the customer for pick up or delivery.
• •Ensure that Secured Payment is made prior to releasing serviced vehicles.
• •Keep Uptime Pro updated as needed (Freightliner Elite Support locations).
• •Answer service calls.
• •Additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

• •Required to perform work inside and outside, in all-weather situations, at the shop division location.
• •Requires frequent sitting, standing, balancing, bending, or stooping for prolonged periods of time.
• •Manual dexterity, fine manipulation, and the ability to reach with hands and arms and lift up to 80 lbs.
• •Must be able to operate simple to complex and heavy-duty machinery.
• •Normal range of hearing and vision.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

• •High School diploma or equivalent.
• •Valid driver's license.
• •Good standing MVR.
• •Ability to obtain a CDL within 90 days of employment (diesel service department).
• •Ability to multi-task.
• •Detail oriented.
• •Previous experience as a service writer or advisor required.
• •Knowledge of diesel engines, gas engines, drive train and suspension is a plus.
• •Heavy and medium duty truck industry experience is a plus.
• •Excellent verbal and communication skills.
• •Ability to work any shift, including nights.
• •Ability to successfully complete a General Abilities Assessment and pass a post-offer background check, physical and drug screening.

• •Type: Hourly - Tuesday - Saturday. Shifts may vary
• •Bonus Eligibility: Yes
• •Shift: 1st and 2nd - Tuesday - Saturday
• •Compensation Range: $24.00 - $32.00
• •Reports To: Service Manager
