The Shift Supervisor is responsible for the safe, consistent, and effective operation of the residential program during their assigned shift. The Shift Supervisor provides direct leadership to residential staff, maintains active oversight of students and campus operations, responds to crises, coordinates shift responsibilities, and ensures established residential expectations are consistently carried out.

The Shift Supervisor is the primary operational leader on the floor during their assigned shift. They ensure staff are appropriately deployed, students are adequately supervised, residential routines and programming are completed, and significant concerns are addressed and communicated promptly.

The Shift Supervisor works closely with the Staff Manager and Student Life Coordinator to implement established staffing, programming, training, and operational expectations. Administrative responsibilities including scheduling, hiring, attendance management, formal employee performance management, and broader staffing systems remain the responsibility of the Staff Manager.

Duties:

• •Maintaining primary responsibility for the safety, supervision, structure, and effective operation of the residential program during the assigned shift
• •Maintaining active presence throughout the residential environment and ensuring staff are appropriately assigned, engaged with students, and following required supervision, restrictions, routines, student plans, and safety expectations
• •Serving as the first leadership responder to behavioral crises, medical concerns, conflicts, and other urgent situations and directing staff in approved crisis-prevention, de-escalation, and safety interventions
• •Ensuring significant incidents are appropriately communicated, documented, and followed through according to Telos procedures
• •Coaching, training, and providing real-time feedback to residential staff regarding student engagement, supervision, professional boundaries, de-escalation, teamwork, program expectations, and Telos cultural pillars
• •Identifying staff performance, training, reliability, or competency concerns and communicating them to the Staff Manager for appropriate follow-up
• •Communicating staffing shortages, callouts, or immediate coverage concerns to the Staff Manager while helping coordinate safe shift-level solutions
• •Ensuring residential routines, student expectations, activities, outings, hygiene, meals, chores, recreation, therapeutic assignments, and other scheduled programming are appropriately carried out
• •Coordinating with the Student Life Coordinator regarding programming, outings, transportation, student eligibility, restrictions, resources, and barriers affecting successful execution
• •Supporting implementation of student treatment and behavioral plans, assisting with student conflict resolution, and communicating relevant residential observations to appropriate treatment team members
• •Ensuring medication-related, medical, transportation, environmental, vehicle, supply, and facility responsibilities occurring during the shift are handled according to established procedures and appropriately escalated when necessary
• •Maintaining clear communication between shifts and leadership regarding significant student, staffing, safety, behavioral, medical, and operational information
• •Ensuring required staff logs, Incident Reports, communication logs, and other shift documentation are completed accurately and on time
• •Maintaining required certifications, program knowledge, professional boundaries, confidentiality, and continued competency in Telos philosophy, crisis response, residential leadership, and assigned areas of professional development
