Chevron is accepting online applications for the position Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) through October 14, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. (Central Time).

Overview:

The Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) is responsible for ensuring the integrity, reliability, and technical consistency of IT products and solutions. This role partners closely with DevOps and Agile teams to drive proactive incident prevention, improve operational excellence, conduct SRE assessments, coach Agile teams on SRE maturity, and accelerate SRE adoption across the organization.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

• •Build and apply SRE knowledge and experience to drive proactive incident prevention through service performance analysis, process improvement, and operational gap identification.
• •Troubleshooting and resolving production and critical system performance issues within Agile environments.
• •Provide on-call operational support during U.S. business hours and serve as a technical resource during critical and major incidents.
• •Conduct SRE technical assessments, identify maturity gaps, and develop continuous improvement plans based on Chevron's SRE framework.
• •Improve system reliability through monitoring, logging, automation, and operational excellence initiatives.
• •Partner with the SRE Community of Practice to define standards, best practices, and capability development across the enterprise.

Required Qualifications:

• •Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• •Experience supporting IT products and services in production environments.
• •Experience troubleshooting and resolving complex application, infrastructure, or system performance issues.
• •Experience working within Agile and DevOps environments.
• •Demonstrated knowledge of monitoring, logging, automation, and operational support practices.
• •Ability to participate in on-call support and major incident response activities.

Preferred Qualifications:

• •SRE, Cloud, DevOps, Agile, or IT Service Management certifications.
• •Experience conducting reliability assessments and driving operational maturity improvements.
• •Experience with automation scripting and operational workflow optimization.
• •Knowledge of SRE principles, observability, incident management, and performance engineering practices.
• •Experience coaching teams and influencing adoption of reliability engineering best practices.
• •Experience collaborating with cross-functional technology teams and communities of practice.
