The Person We're Looking For
The successful candidate will be relationship-driven, organized, accountable, proactive, and comfortable working with both customers and technical teams .
We are looking for someone who doesn't wait for a customer to call with a need. Our Account Managers stay engaged, ask questions, understand what is happening within their accounts, and proactively bring customers ideas and solutions.
The right candidate understands that strong account management requires both taking care of the customer and growing the relationship .
SLED experience is highly desirable, but we will consider candidates with strong technology account-management experience and a demonstrated ability to build long-term customer relationships.
What Success Looks Like
First 30 Days
Learn TeleComp's services, processes, teams, systems, and customer base. Become familiar with assigned accounts, current services, contracts, open opportunities, active projects, and upcoming renewals.
First 60 Days
Establish direct relationships with key contacts across assigned accounts. Begin conducting customer meetings and account reviews. Develop account plans and identify upcoming renewals, customer needs, risks, and potential opportunities.
First 90 Days
Independently manage assigned customer relationships, maintain an accurate 30/60/90-day pipeline, generate qualified opportunities, conduct regular customer meetings, and demonstrate a clear strategy for retaining and growing assigned accounts.

JOB SUMMARY
TeleComp is seeking an experienced, relationship-driven SLED Account Manager to manage and grow relationships with our State, Local Government, and Education customers.
This position serves as the primary business relationship owner for assigned accounts. The SLED Account Manager is responsible for understanding each customer's organization, technology environment, business priorities, budget cycles, and future needs while coordinating the appropriate TeleComp resources to support them.
This is not simply a sales position. Success requires developing trusted, long-term customer relationships, maintaining regular communication, identifying opportunities, managing renewals, and ensuring TeleComp consistently delivers value to our clients.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
Account Management & Customer Relationships
Serve as the primary business relationship owner for assigned SLED accounts.
Develop strong relationships with superintendents, administrators, IT directors, CIOs, city and county officials, purchasing departments, executive leadership, and other key stakeholders.
Maintain regular contact with customers through onsite meetings, calls, business reviews, and ongoing communication.
Develop a thorough understanding of each customer's organization, technology environment, goals, challenges, budget cycles, and upcoming initiatives.
Conduct regular account and business reviews with customers.
Maintain accurate documentation of customer contacts, opportunities, activities, and next steps in TeleComp's business systems.
Account Growth
Proactively identify opportunities to expand TeleComp's relationship within existing accounts.
Work with customers to identify technology needs involving managed IT services, cybersecurity, networking, cloud services, Microsoft 365, connectivity, hosted voice/UCaaS, infrastructure, and other TeleComp solutions.
Maintain an active 30/60/90-day opportunity pipeline for assigned accounts.
Develop account plans that identify upcoming projects, renewals, budget opportunities, risks, and potential areas for growth.
Meet established goals for customer retention, recurring revenue growth, opportunity development, and quoting activity.
Coordinate demonstrations, assessments, proposals, and solution discussions with TeleComp technical resources when appropriate.
SLED Procurement & Renewals
Understand and navigate State, Local Government, and Education procurement processes.
Track customer budget cycles, purchasing windows, contract expirations, and renewal dates.
Assist with RFPs, RFQs, cooperative purchasing agreements, contract vehicles, and other public-sector procurement requirements.
Coordinate internally to ensure proposals, quotes, contracts, and renewals are completed accurately and on time.
Identify upcoming funding opportunities and purchasing initiatives within assigned accounts.
Internal Coordination
Work closely with TeleComp's Engineering, Service Delivery, Project Management, Procurement, Finance, and Leadership teams.
Act as the customer's business advocate within TeleComp while maintaining appropriate expectations with the customer.
Participate in internal account, pipeline, project, and opportunity reviews.
Ensure important customer information and commitments are clearly communicated to the appropriate internal teams.
Remain engaged with significant customer projects without replacing the responsibilities of Project Management or technical teams.
Escalate customer concerns when necessary and help coordinate the appropriate TeleComp resources toward resolution.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES AND INTERACTIONS WITH OTHERS
This position has no supervisory responsibilities. The SLED Account Manager interacts frequently with current and potential clients and vendors as part of sales process and interacts frequently with internal team members to coordinate client success.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
3–5+ years of B2B account management, technology sales, or customer relationship management experience.
Demonstrated ability to manage and grow an existing book of business.
Strong relationship-building and customer communication skills.
Proven ability to identify customer needs and develop those needs into qualified business opportunities.
Ability to manage multiple accounts, opportunities, quotes, renewals, and customer priorities simultaneously.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Comfortable communicating technology solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with technical and operational teams.
Strong organizational, documentation, and follow-up skills.
Ability to maintain an accurate sales pipeline and provide reliable forecasting.
Must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Previous experience working with State and Local Government, K-12 Education, Higher Education, or other public-sector organizations preferred.
Existing relationships within the SLED marketplace, particularly within TeleComp's service territory preferred.
Experience with public-sector procurement, RFP/RFQ processes, cooperative purchasing agreements, contract vehicles, and government purchasing requirements preferred.
Knowledge of school and governmental budgeting and purchasing cycles are preferred.
Familiarity with E-Rate or other government and education technology funding programs preferred.

Normal working conditions in an office environment absent extreme factors. Evening and weekend work may be required to me
