Social Worker (Clinical)

About the Position: This position is located at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Director for Behavioral Health, Department of Social Work Adult Medicine, Outpatient Social Work in Bethesda, Maryland. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties

• •Collect bio-psychosocial information about patients using interview, case history, observation techniques, and assessment methods.
• •Consult on or develop discharge pans for complicated cases, psychosocial assessments, and mental status examinations on behalf of beneficiaries throughout the area served.
• •Analyze information collected to identify symptoms, determine psychiatric diagnosis, develop treatment plan, and/or determine advisability of counseling or referral to other specialists.
• •Provide individual and/or group psychotherapy.
• •Work with the multi-disciplinary team to develop disposition planning.
• •Function as a member of the multi-disciplinary treatment team, presenting internal reports and participating in patient evaluation and treatment planning.
• •Evaluate treatment effectiveness and make adjustments to patient's treatment plans as appropriate.
• •Utilize electronic health record systems to document and review patient data.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for Social Worker (Clinical): Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. (NOTE: You must provide a copy of your official transcripts with your application package.) In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting bio-psychosocial evaluations; providing individual or group treatment; developing discharge and treatment plans; and working as part of a multidisciplinary team. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. License: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted independent social work clinical licensure from a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction.
