Software Asset Management (SAM) Specialist

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Asset Management (SAM) Specialist with significant experience in Software Asset Management, licensing compliance, software discovery, and SAM tool administration. The ideal candidate will bring a strong combination of publisher licensing expertise, technical discovery knowledge, and hands-on experience in integrating, customizing, and developing SAM solutions to support compliance, optimization, and audit readiness across the software estate.

Key Responsibilities

• •Perform software license compliance, reconciliation, optimization, and audit support activities.
• •Manage software licensing and entitlement analysis across major publishers including Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, Red hat etc.
• •Develop and maintain Effective License Positions (ELPs) and identify compliance risks and optimization opportunities.
• •Configure, administer, and troubleshoot software discovery and inventory solutions.
• •Design, develop, and support integrations between SAM platforms and enterprise systems including SCCM/MECM, Intune, Active Directory, CMDBs, procurement systems, Azure, AWS, and other inventory sources.
• •Develop and maintain custom workflows, scripts, automation, APIs, business rules, and data transformations within SAM tools.
• •Support discovery customization, normalization, software models, and inventory data remediation activities.
• •Analyse inventory and usage data to improve software governance, compliance, and cost optimization.
• •Create dashboards, reports, KPIs, and executive-level compliance reporting.
• •Partner with Infrastructure, Cloud, Procurement, Security, and Vendor Management teams to drive SAM best practices.
• •Embed AI into project delivery to drive productivity, automate routine activities, strengthen decision quality through trusted data, and deliver continuous process improvement while applying appropriate human judgement

Required Skills & Experience : 4+ Years

• •Mandatory :Experience in Software Asset Management (SAM), IT Asset Management (ITAM), or Software Licensing
• •Strong knowledge of licensing models including user-based, device-based, core-based, processor-based, subscription, SaaS, virtualization, and cloud licensing.
• •Experience working with SAM and discovery platforms such as: ServiceNow SAM ProFlexera One / FNMSSnow SoftwareUSUFreshworks ITAMTaniumLansweeper
• •Hands-on experience with: Discovery tools and inventory managementTool integrations and API developmentWorkflow automation and customizationData mapping, normalization, and reconciliationSoftware compliance and audit management
• •Knowledge of Windows, Linux, VMware, Azure, AWS, and cloud-hosted software environments.
• •Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and stakeholder management skills.
