Software Dev Engineer II, Emerging Device Software

Amazon lab126 Platform Software team is looking for Software Development Engineer to lead the design and architecture of new consumer devices. You will drive technical direction and feature roadmap for next gen devices.

• Develop high quality embedded software for Consumer products.

Work on key components in the area of Middleware and frameworks layers

Deal with ambiguity, make data-driven decisions and juggle cross-organization complexity

Evaluate different design choices, prototype new technology, and implement technical solutions that address business requirements

Work closely with cross functional team, understand the requirements, design and deliver innovative solutions to help preserve customer trust

• About the team
• Are you an engineer who wants to build the next generation of consumer devices from the ground up? As an SDE II on the Emerging Devices team, you will design and deliver software features that power new-to-world hardware — from sensor data pipelines and power management to cloud-connected device experiences. You will own feature-level deliverables end to end, collaborate with firmware, hardware, and cloud teams, and ship software that customers interact with daily. This role offers the opportunity to solve real technical challenges in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment where your code runs on devices that don't exist yet. Basic qualifications

• - 4+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• - 4+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• - 3+ years of Android development experience
• - Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations

Preferred qualifications

• - 3+ years of programming using a modern programming language such as Java, C++, or C#, including object-oriented design experience
• - Master's degree in computer science or equivalent
• - Knowledge of computer architecture, operating systems, and parallel computing
