Company Description:

Our team began as Zynstra, a successful innovative start-up based in Bath. Acquisition by NCR Voyix in 2020 resulted in a company with a start-up culture backed by a world class enterprise. We develop Edge Virtualization and Containerisation infrastructure for large retailers using cutting-edge Linux technologies.

As a developer within the NCR Voyix Edge CI SCRUM team, you will take part in the development of world class build, deploy and test tooling using the latest cloud and Infrastructure as Code technologies. You will collaborate with other developers within your team and across the organisation and perform code review. You will also assist the team lead and architects in defining stories on the backlog and liaising with QA and internal stakeholders to ensure the right solution and quality.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

Candidates should typically possess a degree in a numerate discipline.

Required skills:

• •Strong development skills – clean code / agile / SOLID principles
• •Working knowledge of Go or Python
• •Working knowledge of Linux OS and Bash
• •Confident working with git in a multi-developer environment

Other relevant skills:

• •Exposure to cloud computing - ideally GCP
• •Extended Linux knowledge (networking, installation, boot process, building / configuring the kernel / kernel modules)
• •Containerisation with Docker or Kubernetes
• •Infrastructure as Code tools such as Ansible or Terraform
• •Github pipelines

Crucially the candidate should have a passion for their work and have a proven track record of being able to develop innovative solutions to hard technical problems. The ideal candidate should have a keen interest in learning new technologies and adapting their skills to suite their work.

Other Requirements:

The job will be based primarily in NCR Voyix’s offices in Bath. Current work from home policy is minimum 2 day per week in the office and the remainder from home. Employees are required to live within commutable distance of the office. Any workdays from home are a benefit for employees who are performing to a satisfactory level.

Certain roles may require access to labs and thus extra days in the office, this will be discussed in the interview. Working hours are 7.5 hours per day, Monday to Friday, plus a lunch break. Start and end times are flexible whilst adhering to core hours of 9:30 till 16:00. The candidate should be flexible in terms of occasional work outside of regular office hours and on weekends.

Business travel opportunities will be rare.
