Why This Role Matters

As a Software Development Engineer - II, you'll build and scale the backend systems that power GoKwik's checkout, payments, and post-purchase products. You'll own services end-to-end, make architectural decisions that improve platform reliability and performance, and mentor engineers while driving complex technical initiatives. The systems you build directly influence merchant conversions, customer experience, and platform scalability.

What You'll Own

• •Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Node.js and NestJS, with Go for selected services.
• •Build and optimize distributed systems using PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, and Kafka.
• •Own event-driven architectures, ensuring high throughput, reliability, fault tolerance, and scalability.
• •Drive architectural decisions, document technical trade-offs, and improve system design across services.
• •Deliver end-to-end features, contributing to frontend development in React or Svelte where required.
• •Strengthen CI/CD pipelines, observability, monitoring, and cloud infrastructure on AWS.
• •Debug production issues, improve system performance, and ensure high service reliability.
• •Review code, mentor Associate Engineers and SDE I engineers, and elevate engineering standards across the team.
• •Take ownership of ambiguous technical problems and independently drive them from design through production deployment.

Who You Are

• •Strong backend engineering experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, and NestJS.
• •Working knowledge of Go or the willingness to learn and build production services with it.
• •Strong understanding of PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, and distributed data systems.
• •Experience designing and scaling event-driven architectures using Kafka or similar messaging systems.
• •Comfortable working across the stack, including frontend technologies such as React or Svelte.
• •Strong understanding of scalability, reliability, maintainability, and software architecture principles.
• •Experience mentoring engineers, conducting code reviews, and driving engineering best practices.
• •Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
