Software Development Manager, GO-AI Technology & Development Team

Within Amazon Robotics, the Global Operations - Artificial Intelligence (GO-AI) team enables Amazon to accelerate and scale the next generation of AI-powered robotic solutions. We're transforming how complex visual reasoning tasks are performed across Amazon's robotics operations, moving from traditional manual data annotation processes to advanced foundation model solutions.

As a Software Development Manager on GO-AI's Technology & Development Team, you'll be at the center of this transformation. You’ll lead a team of full-stack software engineers, responsible for developing and maintaining mission-critical, high-availability applications for Remote Intervention and Data Annotation solutions. These applications integrate massive-scale, proprietary foundation models to deliver low-latency inference. These applications also feature human-machine-interfaces that allow remote operations teams to provide minute-level responses.

This is a rare opportunity to build AI systems that operate at Amazon scale while solving novel technical challenges in computer vision, natural language processing, and human-AI collaboration. You'll manage and collaborate with world-class engineers, scientists, and operations teams to deploy breakthrough research into production systems that deliver real-world impact at global scale.

• Key job responsibilities
• •Hire, motivate, mentor, and grow a high-performing engineering team of full-stack software engineers, providing them with appropriate opportunities to succeed in their career objectives
• •Work backwards from the customers’ needs with long-term focus
• •Define and deliver on the technical vision, strategy, and roadmap for GO-AI’s mission-critical, high availability software applications (Tier 1/Tier 2)
• •Lead your teams in the design and delivery of highly scalable services and features for GO-AI, driving operational metrics including latency, availability, and defect reduction
• •Continuously improve development processes — CI/CD, on-call, operational excellence — to accelerate delivery and maintain high availability
• •Partner with cross-functional teams of applied scientists, data engineers, business intelligence engineers, and technical program managers to provide Remote Intervention and Data Annotations for Amazon's robotic and automation programs
• •Translate complex technical work into clear narratives for stakeholders at all levels, both technical and non-technical

Basic qualifications

• - 3+ years of engineering team management experience
• - 7+ years of engineering experience
• - 4+ years of providing technical leadership and project management for all aspects of the software development lifecycle experience
• - 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• - Experience partnering with product or program management teams
• - Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
• - 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi-tier software services experience
• - Experience implementing engineering practices and patterns for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and certification

Preferred qualifications

• - 5+ years of hiring, mentoring, coaching, and managing teams of software engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective
• - 10+ years of planning, designing, developing, and delivering software experience
• - Experience managing teams who build infrastructure for LLM/VLM training and inference at scale
• - Experience managing multiple concurrent programs, projects, and development teams in an Agile environment
• - Experience communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
• - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
• - Master’s degree in a related Technical or Business field

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
