We invite you to apply today!

SimSpace is looking for a Software Engineer, Full Stack to join one of our application teams and help deliver high-quality product capabilities across the full development lifecycle, from definition and design through implementation, testing, release, and maintenance. You’ll work across the stack—expanding APIs, building backend services, improving frontend experiences, modeling data, and helping ensure the systems we build are reliable, maintainable, and aligned with customer needs.

As a Software Engineer you’ll contribute with increasing autonomy while partnering closely with UX, Product, Data Science, QA, and other engineers. You’ll help break down ambiguous problems, make sound implementation decisions, participate in planning and retrospectives, demo your work, and contribute to the team’s engineering practices through code reviews, documentation, and knowledge sharing.

This is a hands-on full-stack engineering role for someone who has built production software and is ready to take ownership of well-scoped features, collaborate across disciplines, and help raise the quality and reliability of the systems they work on.

What You’ll Do

Deliver Full-Stack Product Capabilities

Design, build, test, and maintain full-stack features across frontend, backend, API, and data layers.

Build and enhance frontend experiences using TypeScript, React, or similar technologies.

Develop and extend backend services using Kotlin, Spring Boot, and similar technologies.

Design, implement, and evolve RESTful APIs that support product and customer needs.

Work with PostgreSQL (and similar RDBMS’s) to model, query, and maintain application data.

Contribute to services operating in a microservices architecture and help ensure integrations are reliable and maintainable.

Own Well-Scoped Work End to End

Take ownership of moderately complex features, from technical discovery and implementation through testing, release, and support.

Break down work into clear, incremental deliverables that support predictable delivery.

Identify risks, dependencies, and trade-offs early, and communicate them clearly to teammates and stakeholders.

Debug issues across the stack and drive problems to resolution.

Balance product delivery with code quality, maintainability, performance, and long-term system health.

Collaborate Across Disciplines

Partner with Product Managers, UX Designers, Data Scientists, QA, and engineers to turn requirements into working software.

Participate actively in team planning, demos, retrospectives, and technical discussions.

Provide implementation feedback early in the product and design process.

Contribute to team decisions with clear communication, sound judgment, and a collaborative mindset.

Help maintain strong team practices in remote, hybrid, or distributed environments.

Raise the Bar on Engineering Quality

Write well-tested, well-documented, maintainable code intended for production use.

Participate actively in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to other engineers.

Improve test coverage, observability, documentation, and reliability in the systems you touch.

Help identify technical debt and contribute to pragmatic plans for addressing it.

Share knowledge with teammates through documentation, pairing, walkthroughs, and technical discussions.

What You Bring

Required Qualifications

Strong bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish skills required across written, virtual, and in-person interactions

3+ years of hands-on software development experience, or equivalent practical experience.

Experience building production software across frontend and backend systems.

Familiarity with frontend technologies such as TypeScript, React, or similar frameworks.

Familiarity with Kotlin and Spring Boot, or comparable backend service technologies.

Experience designing, consuming, or maintaining RESTful APIs.

Comfortable working with microservices architecture and distributed system concepts.

Experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational database technologies, including data modeling fundamentals.

Knowledge of software testing principles and experience writing automated tests.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Experience collaborating with remote, hybrid, or distributed teams.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with cybersecurity, networking, or related technical domains.

Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, or cloud-native deployment workflows.

Experience improving reliability, maintainability, observability, or performance in production systems.

Experience contributing to API design standards, service boundaries, or data modeling decisions.

Experience mentoring or supporting less experienced engineers through code reviews, pairing, or documentation.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Who You Are

You can work across the stack, whether expanding an API, improving a backend service, or enhancing the frontend.

You enjoy solving complex problems through collaborative, practical approaches.

You communicate clearly and work well with teammates across engineering, product, design, QA, and data science.

You’re open to feedback and willing to give thoughtful, constructive feedback to others.

You understand that nothing is perfect and that there is always room for improvement.

You’re driven by goals, customer value, and team outcomes.

You care about iterative delivery of high-quality code, tests, and documentation.

You balance high standards with pragmatism and make thoughtful trade-offs when delivery requires them.

Why This Role Matters
