• We work closely with frontier robotics teams to bridge real-world data, simulation, learning-based systems, and deployed hardware.

The Role

Mecka operates globally, moving money across currencies, entities, payment providers, and banking rails. As we scale, we are building the infrastructure to automate how payments, payouts, revenue, and financial data move through the company.

In this role, you will build and own Mecka's payments and revenue infrastructure, including global payouts, payment orchestration, provider integrations, reconciliation, invoicing, revenue recognition, and internal finance tooling. You will partner closely with finance and operations to replace manual workflows with reliable, scalable, and auditable systems.

What You Will Do

Payments infrastructure: Design, build, and operate backend systems that schedule, validate, route, send, and track global payments and payouts across multiple providers, currencies, and banking rails.

Payment integrations: Build and maintain integrations with payment platforms, banks, payroll providers, and financial systems, handling APIs, webhooks, rate limits, retries, settlement, and failure modes.

Reconciliation: Automate reconciliation across payouts, invoices, operational records, bank transactions, and accounting systems, ensuring every movement of money is traceable and discrepancies surface quickly.

Revenue infrastructure: Build systems supporting invoicing, billing, collections, payment tracking, and revenue reconciliation, creating reliable connections between operational and financial data.

Revenue recognition: Partner with finance to translate contract terms, delivery milestones, usage data, and billing events into automated revenue recognition workflows, including unbilled revenue, deferred revenue, accruals, and accounting-system entries.

Reliability: Design money movement and financial workflows around idempotency, transaction integrity, observability, audit trails, permissions, and safe recovery from partial or failed transactions.

Automation: Partner with finance and operations to identify manual, spreadsheet-heavy workflows and turn them into scalable internal tools and automated processes.

What you bring:

Experience: 3-5 years of backend development experience with a focus on payment systems, distributed systems, or cloud infrastructure.

Computer science: Strong computer science fundamentals with a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a similarly rigorous technical discipline strongly preferred.

Backend engineering: Strong experience building production backend and distributed systems where correctness, reliability, and data integrity are critical.

High-concurrency systems: Strong programming experience building and managing high-concurrency, complex business systems and services.

Programming languages: Proficiency in at least one backend language, including C++, Java, Go, Python, or Shell.

Payments: Experience with payments, billing, fintech, marketplaces, banking infrastructure, or other high-volume transactional systems.

Systems design: Strong understanding of APIs, databases, concurrency, idempotency, retries, transaction boundaries, event-driven systems, and reconciliation.

Ownership: Experience owning critical systems in production, including monitoring, incident response, debugging, and root-cause remediation.

Even better if you have:

Industry: Experience at a leading fintech or payments company such as Stripe, Coinbase, Block, Adyen, Plaid, Brex, Ramp, Wise, or a similarly complex financial platform.

Large-scale B2C: Experience at a high-volume consumer or marketplace platform such as Uber, Airbnb,

DoorDash, Shopify, or similar, particularly working on payments, payouts, billing, or transaction infrastructure.

Financial systems: Experience building wallets, ledgers, payout systems, payment orchestration, billing

infrastructure, reconciliation engines, or financial data platforms.

Revenue systems: Experience building billing, invoicing, usage-based revenue, revenue recognition, or order-to-cash systems that connect operational data with accounting systems.

Global payments: Familiarity with cross-border payments, FX, multi-currency settlement, local payment rails, and payment infrastructure across multiple entities and jurisdictions.

Finance workflows: Familiarity with accounting concepts and systems, including double-entry accounting, revenue recognition, accrued/unbilled revenue, deferred revenue, AP/AR, clearing accounts, invoicing, settlement, and financial reconciliation
