Software Engineer, Simulation Infrastructure

The Simulation Infrastructure team owns a reliable, scalable, and cost-effective Simulation-based platform to enable evaluating the Waymo Driver's software stack at a massive scale. We solve complex technical challenges to build services and tools for a broad range of customers – Software Engineers, Product, Data Science, System Engineering, and more. In this hybrid role you will report to the Software Engineering Manager.

You will:

Design, develop, and maintain C++ software systems, tooling, and infrastructure to support development & evaluation of the Waymo Driver

Collaborate with Product, Data Science, Systems Engineering, and Onboard SWE teams to understand requirements, develop solutions, and provide support

Manage complex production systems, ensuring critical business needs are met

Evolve and simplify legacy infrastructure

You have:

BS or MS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience

3+ years of experience developing production systems with C++ and/ Java

2+ years of experience with backend technologies, databases, monitoring systems, and rollout processes

Ability to solve open-ended technical challenges

Excellent collaboration and communication skills

We prefer:

Working experience with large-scale data processing systems

Experience with an internal or business-facing data product, including providing internal user support

The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level. $170,000 — $216,000 USD
