The Solution Train Engineer (STE) is responsible for facilitating and enabling the delivery of large-scale, cross-functional solutions developed by multiple Agile Release Trains (ARTs). Acting as a servant leader, coach, and facilitator, the STE drives alignment, execution, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the Solution Train to ensure successful delivery of business outcomes.

The Solution Train Engineer (STE) is responsible for facilitating and enabling the delivery of large-scale, cross-functional solutions developed by multiple Agile Release Trains (ARTs). Acting as a servant leader, coach, and facilitator, the STE drives alignment, execution, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the Solution Train to ensure successful delivery of business outcomes.

The STE partners closely with Solution Management, Product Management, Release Train Engineers, System Architects, Business Owners, and delivery teams to coordinate planning, manage dependencies, mitigate risks, and improve flow across the solution lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Solution Train Leadership

• •Serve as the primary servant leader and facilitator for the Solution Train.
• •Foster collaboration and alignment across Agile Release Trains, shared services, and external stakeholders.
• •Drive transparency in planning, execution, risks, dependencies, and outcomes.
• •Support strategic alignment between business objectives and solution delivery.

Planning and Execution

• •Facilitate Solution Train events, including:Pre- and Post-PI PlanningSolution Train SyncSolution DemoInspect and Adapt workshopsLarge Solution Retrospectives
• •Coordinate planning activities across multiple ARTs to ensure integrated delivery.
• •Monitor delivery progress and identify barriers impacting execution.
• •Drive dependency management across teams and programs.

Agile Coaching and Continuous Improvement

• •Coach Release Train Engineers, Product Managers, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and leaders in Lean-Agile practices.
• •Promote a culture of continuous improvement and organizational learning.
• •Facilitate root-cause analysis and problem-solving activities.
• •Identify opportunities to improve predictability, quality, and delivery efficiency.

Risk and Dependency Management

• •Proactively identify and manage cross-train risks, issues, assumptions, and dependencies.
• •Escalate impediments that cannot be resolved at the ART level.
• •Facilitate decision-making and stakeholder alignment for critical delivery challenges.

Metrics and Reporting

• •Establish and monitor performance metrics for solution delivery.
• •Analyze flow metrics, predictability measures, quality indicators, and business outcomes.
• •Provide executive-level reporting on delivery health, risks, and progress.
• •Support data-driven decision-making across the Solution Train.

Stakeholder Engagement

• •Partner with Product Management, Solution Management, Architecture, Operations, and Business Owners.
• •Communicate delivery status, milestones, risks, and accomplishments to senior leadership.
• •Build strong cross-functional relationships that support successful solution delivery.

Use your skills to make an impact

Required Qualifications

• •3+ years of experience leading large-scale Agile product or technology delivery initiatives.
• •3+ years of experience in Agile leadership roles such as Release Train Engineer, Program Manager, Agile Coach, Scrum Master, or Delivery Lead.
• •Deep understanding of Agile, Lean, and systems-thinking principles.
• •Experience managing complex dependencies across multiple teams and organizations.
• •Strong facilitation, conflict resolution, and stakeholder management skills.
• •Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• •SAFe Solution Train Engineer (STE), Release Train Engineer (RTE), SPC, or other Agile certifications.
• •Experience in healthcare, financial services, technology, or other highly regulated industries.
• •Experience leading large-scale digital transformation initiatives.
• •Familiarity with value stream management and flow metrics.
• •Experience with Jira, Azure DevOps, Rally, or similar Agile management platforms.

Work at Home Requirements: To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees’ ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees must meet the following criteria: At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is required; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested. In certain roles, the minimum recommended internet speed required by Humana may not be sufficient for business needs. Humana reserves the right to require associates to upgrade their internet service if necessary. Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.

Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.

$126,300 - $173,700 per year

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
