Ko wai mātou – About us
Foodstuffs Own Brands is part of the wider Foodstuffs whānau, owned by both Foodstuffs co-operatives. We're the national team behind more than 2500 private brand products — including some of Aotearoa's most recognised grocery brands, most notably Pams. We're customer-driven in everything we do, driving a strategic Foodstuffs' Private Brand portfolio from conception to consumption!
Te Tūranga – About the role
We’re looking for an experienced and commercially savvy Sourcing Manager to join our Own Brands team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for delivering best cost price outcomes across a portfolio of Own Brand products while supporting category strategies and driving long-term value for our co-operatives and customers. You’ll lead supplier negotiations, tenders, and sourcing initiatives, working closely with Category Product Managers, Product Developers, and suppliers to optimise cost, quality, innovation, and supply outcomes. Note, this is an upstream sourcing & negotiation role not a downstream day-to-day stock management function.
Success in this role requires strong commercial acumen, exceptional negotiation skills, and the ability to build influential stakeholder relationships. You’ll maintain a deep understanding of category cost drivers, commodity movements, supplier capability, and market trends while identifying opportunities to improve supplier performance, reduce costs, and create competitive advantage.
He kōrero mōu – About you
You’ll bring a strong background in Category Management, sourcing, buying, or commercial roles within FMCG, food or retail. You are naturally curious, commercially minded, and confident managing complex tenders and working across multiple stakeholder groups.
Ideally, you will bring:
Experience in sourcing, buying, or commercial role, ideally within FMCG, food, or retail.
Strong understanding of cost models, manufacturing processes, and the drivers impacting cost of goods.
Proven experience leading supplier negotiations, sourcing initiatives, and supplier relationship management.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret commercial data and make informed decisions.
Strong project management and organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
Advanced stakeholder management skills and a collaborative working style.
Resilience, initiative, and a passion for continuous improvement.
