About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Specialist Family Violence Practitioner to join our Short-Term Refuge Program.
Working within a crisis accommodation setting, you will provide specialist, trauma-informed and intensive case management to women and children experiencing family violence. You will play a critical role in assessing risk, developing safety strategies, coordinating supports, and empowering clients to achieve their goals.
This role is ideal for a confident practitioner who thrives in fast-paced environments and is passionate about creating meaningful change for victim survivors.
Reporting to the Team Leader, this is a permanent full-time position based on-site in Coburg North, VIC.
Conditions
Compensation is in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services (SCHADS) Award Level 5.
How you will make an impact
- Deliver specialist family violence crisis case management within a refuge setting
- Build trusting, strengths-based relationships with women and children
- Conduct comprehensive risk, safety, and needs assessments
- Develop and review client-led safety and support plans
- Advocate for clients and coordinate referrals across housing, legal, health, and community services
- Support women and children to transition from crisis accommodation into longer-term stability and independence
- Work in line with the National Family Violence Model of Care and Victorian family violence practice frameworks
What You'll Bring
We are looking for a skilled and compassionate practitioner who can confidently navigate complex situations while maintaining a strong client-centred approach.
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor of Social Work (essential)
- Qualifications aligned with the Mandatory Minimum Qualification Requirements for Specialist Family Violence Workers (Recommendation 209)
- Minimum 3 years' experience in specialist family violence case management, crisis response, refuge services, or a closely related field
- Demonstrated experience conducting risk assessments, safety planning, and case management with women and children experiencing family violence
- Strong understanding of family violence, child wellbeing, trauma-informed practice, and risk management
- Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Current Victorian Driver's Licence
- Current Employee Working with Children Check
Previous experience working within a refuge or crisis accommodation environment will be highly regarded.
