Sr. Accessibility Specialist, AWS Accessibility

The AWS Accessibility organization is looking for a Sr. Accessibility Specialist to help us deliver born accessible customer experiences and revolutionize the way that service teams build with accessibility in mind.

The right candidate will have a background with driving accessibility in a complex, cross-functional environment. You will have deep expertise related to accessibility standards and innovation. This role requires strong judgment, the ability to earn trust with your stakeholders, and the ability to distill guidance to a variety of stakeholders across multiple levels at AWS.

• Key job responsibilities
• As a Sr. Accessibility Specialist, you will:
• - Serve as an accessibility subject matter expert (SME) across 200+ AWS services, our design systems, web experiences, and mobile experiences
• - Innovate solutions using AI and other techniques to continuously improve the way that AWS addresses accessibility at-scale
• - Prototype accessibility solutions for complex challenges
• - Conduct accessibility reviews and provide service teams with actionable guidance, including usability considerations to improve the customer experience.
• - Collaborate across organizations to scale our accessibility processes, tooling, and features
• - Influence stakeholders across AWS, communicate changes, issues, and resolutions clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• - Establish enterprise-wide technical excellence by driving accessibility standards and requirements into tooling that drives the AWS software development lifecycle

Basic qualifications

• - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fields
• - Deep understanding of accessibility standards and accessibility legislation (e.g., Section 508, EN 301 549). Expert knowledge of WCAG 2.2 and its application.
• - Experience with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, ReactJS)
• - Experience with assistive technologies (e.g., NVDA, JAWS, screen magnification)
• - Understanding of the intersectionality between accessibility and usability

Preferred qualifications

• - Familiarity with LLM coding agents for coding
• - Experience with AI/ML tooling for accessibility workflows
• - External recognition in accessibility community (speaking, thought leadership, standards contribution)

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
