• We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to lead the partnership with stakeholders and clients by defining problems, architecting robust data solutions, and delivering scalable, production-grade pipelines that power smarter decision-making.
• The ideal candidate is a seasoned, collaborative problem-solver who has deep command of the full data lifecycle (from ingestion and modeling to transformation, orchestration, deployment, and monitoring) and who brings sound engineering judgment to ambiguous, high-stakes technical decisions.

This is a ground-floor leadership opportunity to help build our technology practice from its early stages. As a senior member of a growing data and technology team, you'll set technical direction, drive key architecture decisions, and mentor other engineers as the practice scales. You'll shape how we build and operate data infrastructure, define reusable tools and standards, and champion a culture of learning, transparency, and continuous improvement.

Success in this role means delivering reliable, well-architected data systems that teams trust and understand, closing the gap between raw data and actionable insight, while driving measurable business impact and elevating the technical maturity of the broader team.

What You'll Do:

• •Leads end-to-end development of data engineering solutions for high-impact business problems.
• •Defines data strategy, architecture, and deployment plans.
• •Collaborates with cross-functional teams to integrate data solutions into enterprise systems.
• •Provides technical leadership and mentorship across the data engineering team.
• •Drives innovation through the adoption of emerging technologies and methodologies.
• •Ensures data governance, compliance, and performance optimization.
• •Communicates complex solutions and insights to executive stakeholders.
• •Performs other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:

• •Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field and 7 years of related experience, or,
• •Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field and 6 years of related experience, or,
• •In lieu of education, 11 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• •Proven, hands-on experience building and operating production data pipelines across multiple cloud providers (AWS, Microsoft/Azure, GCP), with deep expertise across orchestration, ETL/ELT, and the broader data stack, including object storage, lakehouse architectures, processing, and data governance.
• •A track record of leading as a flexible generalist in a start-up or early-stage environment. Experienced at wearing multiple hats, operating fluidly across the stack, and building from scratch amid ambiguity and minimal process, with the seasoned judgment to know when "good enough" beats "perfect."
• •Demonstrated experience delivering data solutions within a highly regulated industry such as government, healthcare, or financial services, with strong command of the compliance, security, and governance demands those environments require.
• •Consulting or client-facing experience is a plus, particularly a demonstrated ability to lead stakeholder engagements, scope ambiguous problems independently, and deliver solutions across varied clients and contexts.
• •Experience with data in the traffic, transportation, or infrastructure domains (e.g., transportation planning, asset management, traffic operations, or civil/transportation engineering data) is a plus.
