Sr. Software Dev Engineer, Ring Cloud Connectivity Org

Ring is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to join the Cloud Connectivity organization in Toronto, where you'll lead the design and delivery of large-scale, customer-facing platforms that power how millions of Ring devices and services work together.

You'll own the end-to-end technical direction for complex systems that process high-throughput real-time data and integrate with a broad ecosystem of connected devices. You'll collaborate across Ring's cloud, firmware, science, and product organizations to solve hard problems in distributed systems, cross-platform application delivery, and real-time data processing at scale.

• Key job responsibilities
• - Lead the design and architecture of large-scale, customer-facing platforms supporting millions of Ring devices with strict availability and latency requirements
• - Leverage and champion AI-first development practices across the engineering lifecycle — including design, code generation, testing, code review, and debugging
• - Architect fault-tolerant distributed systems using AWS services, ensuring scalability from thousands to millions of concurrent operations
• - Design and build high-throughput, low-latency data processing pipelines that aggregate and serve real-time signals from diverse device types
• - Drive technical roadmap and iterative feature delivery for multi-year programs with leadership visibility
• - Partner with science and ML teams to integrate model outputs into production customer-facing applications
• - Mentor and grow other SDEs, setting the bar for technical quality, design rigor, and operational ownership
• - Influence technical decision-making across Ring's connected home platform, contributing to architecture reviews and long-term technology strategy

• Ring Cloud Connectivity builds the foundational platforms and services that power how Ring devices connect, communicate, coordinate, and deliver experiences to customers. The team partners across Ring's cloud services, firmware, science, and product organizations to deliver customer experiences at scale. We are a Toronto-based team that values technical ownership, iterative delivery, and leveraging AI-first development to maximize engineering impact.

Basic qualifications

• - 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• - 5+ years of programming using a modern programming language such as Java, C++, or C#, including object-oriented design experience
• - 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• - Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
• - Experience with Generative AI-first development practices
• - 2+ years Experience with one or more relevant front-end frameworks such as React, React Native, or cross-platform UI toolkits

Preferred qualifications

• - 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
• - Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
• - Experience with real-time data processing, streaming architectures, or low-latency event-driven systems.
• - Experience integrating ML or computer vision model outputs into production applications.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. As a total compensation company, Amazon's package may include other elements such as sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
