Role Overview:

Could you be our next Sr. Software Developer III? Globe Life is looking for a Sr. Software Developer III to join the team!

In this role, you will be responsible for providing technical support and guidance across system applications while driving enhancements and designing scalable solutions throughout the full application lifecycle. Reporting to the IT Applications Manager, you will serve as a technical expert making architectural decisions, ensuring quality, and aligning technical work with business needs for both new and existing applications. You will also manage client relationships with a high sense of urgency, using strong communication and technical skills to ensure the right resources and processes are in place, managing ticket triage, and providing first and second level technical support for end-users, applications, and cloud environments.

This is a hybrid position located in McKinney, TX. (WFH Monday & Friday, In Office Tuesday–Thursday).

What You Will Do :

Application Development

• •Take full ownership of features end-to-end: back-end API, data layer, AWS services, and front-end UI.
• •Design, build, and ship full-stack web applications from requirements through production release, owning quality, performance, and reliability throughout.
• •Build complex, data-driven, multi-user applications that handle real-world load, concurrency, and security requirements.
• •Proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, security vulnerabilities, and scalability issues.
• •Participate in production support, diagnosing, triaging, and resolving application issues in live environments.

Front-End Development

• •Build functional, working-level front-end applications in Vue 3 or Angular integrated with back-end APIs and Cognito auth flows.
• •Write TypeScript with well-defined interfaces and proper type usage across all front-end code.
• •Implement WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards including semantic HTML, ARIA roles, and keyboard navigation.
• •Write front-end unit and component tests and actively participate in end-to-end testing efforts.

Back-End Development

• •Design and build RESTful APIs and back-end services using ASP.NET Core Web API and C#.
• •Architect solutions using clean architecture principles including CQRS/MediatR, Repository pattern, and SOLID design.
• •Implement authentication and authorization using AWS Cognito, JWT bearer tokens, OAuth2/OpenID Connect, and ASP.NET Core Identity.
• •Design and optimize SQL Server schemas, stored procedures, indexes, and T-SQL queries; work with Aurora and DynamoDB as needed.
• •Build data access layers using Entity Framework Core and Dapper for performance-critical queries.
• •Implement background processing and messaging using Hangfire, AWS SQS, and BackgroundService.
• •Support data integration workflows using SSIS, IICS, or MuleSoft.

Cloud & DevOps

• •Build and maintain AWS workflows using Step Functions, Lambda, Cognito, SQS, S3, RDS, and API Gateway.
• •Implement and manage AWS security using IAM, Secrets Manager, and Parameter Store.
• •Participate in iOS and Android app packaging and release processes via App Store Connect and Google Play Console.
• •Maintain and improve multi-stage CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps including build, test, and environment-specific releases.
• •Enforce Git best practices including branching strategy, pull request standards, code review quality, and release tagging.
• •Maintain Azure DevOps Boards and contribute to sprint planning and backlog refinement.

Leadership & Collaboration

• •Serve as the back-end and cloud technical authority on the team, setting standards and guiding others through complex architectural challenges.
• •Lead code reviews with substantive, constructive feedback that elevates code quality and team capability.
• •Mentor junior and mid-level developers on .NET architecture, AWS patterns, SQL design, and TypeScript.
• •Drive architecture and design discussions, creating technical specifications and ADRs.
• •Partner with QA, DBAs, Business Analysts, and Product Owners throughout the full SDLC.
• •Participate in all Agile ceremonies: sprint planning, standups, retrospectives, and backlog grooming.

What You Can Bring:

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent demonstrable professional experience.

Experience

• •10+ years of production software development, including:
• •5+ years of expert-level .NET Core, ASP.NET Core Web API, and C#; VB.NET familiarity a plus
• •3+ years of hands-on AWS experience in production environments (Step Functions, Cognito, Lambda, S3, RDS, API Gateway)
• •3+ years of SQL Server schema design, T-SQL, stored procedures, and query optimization
• •3+ years of front-end development at a working level with Vue 3 or Angular and TypeScript
• •2+ years working with data integration tools: SSIS, IICS, or MuleSoft
• •2+ years managing Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines and Git-based workflows

• •Demonstrated history of delivering complex, production back-end systems with real users, real data, and real uptime requirements.
• •Production experience with DynamoDB and/or Aurora.
• •Experience packaging and releasing iOS and/or Android applications.
• •Proven experience in Agile/Scrum environments.
• •Proven ability to work independently through ambiguity, managing several diverse and complex problems simultaneously.

Technical Skills

• •Expert-level .NET Core with ASP.NET Core Web API and C# (async/await, LINQ, generics, clean architecture); VB.NET familiarity a plus.
• •Strong AWS production experience with Step Functions, Cognito, Lambda, S3, RDS, API Gateway, IAM, and Secrets Manager.
• •Strong SQL Server skills including schema design, T-SQL, stored procedures, and query optimization; production experience with Aurora and DynamoDB.
• •Experience with data integration tools: SSIS, IICS (Informatica), or MuleSoft.
• •Working-level front-end experience with Vue 3 (Composition API) or Angular 14+ using TypeScript.
• •Experience packaging and releasing iOS and Android applications via App Store Connect and Google Play Console.
• •Solid foundation in clean architecture, SOLID principles, CQRS/MediatR, and Repository pattern.
• •Hands-on experience with EF Core, Dapper, FluentValidation, and Redis caching.
• •Proficiency with Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines and Git-based workflows.
• •Experience with testing frameworks: xUnit, Moq, and FluentAssertions; Vitest/Jest for front-end.
• •Proficiency with Docker and SonarQube/SonarCloud.
• •High ownership mentality, accountable for quality, reliability, and production outcomes.
• •Proactive problem-solving with the ability to analyze complex systems and deliver clear, informed recommendations.
