Requirements:

3–5+ years of experience in Trade Finance, Sales Finance, RGM, Commercial Finance, or CPG trade/promotion analytics.

Direct experience partnering with Sales on trade planning, promotional strategy, or customer investment strongly preferred.

Demonstrated understanding of trade spend, promotional economics, customer planning, and Gross-to-Net fundamentals.

Experience evaluating promotional performance and translating analysis into commercial actions

Experience with TPM/planning systems, including promotion setup, workflow, approvals, and performance analysis, strongly preferred.

Job Description:

The Senior Trade Analyst partners with Sales and Revenue Growth Management (RGM) to execute GTLF’s trade investment and promotional strategy. The role translates customer plans and trade guidelines into executable programs while ensuring investments are planned, approved, captured, and evaluated accurately.

This position serves as the business super-user for Promo Planner and a key day-to-day partner to Sales, combining trade planning, promotional analytics, system governance, and financial discipline. The role also partners with Commercial Finance and Accounting through monthly close and reconciliation.

Key Responsibilities:

Trade Planning & Sales Partnership

Partner with Sales and RGM to translate trade strategies and guidelines into customer promotional plans and investment decisions.

Evaluate proposed programs using historical performance, trade rates, spend efficiency, and available funding.

Track plans against budgets and guidelines, identifying opportunities to optimize depth, frequency, mechanics, and investment allocation.

Support annual planning, customer reviews, and ongoing trade optimization with clear recommendations and follow-through.

Promo Planner & Process Ownership

Serve as business super-user and administrator for Promo Planner, including workflow, approvals, user support, and process governance.

Partner with Sales to ensure promotional programs, commitments, and changes are captured accurately and on time.

Maintain controls and compliance with established trade guidelines and approval processes while helping Sales navigate the system and process effectively.

Partner with IT on Promo Planner enhancements, testing, data integrity, reporting, and issue resolution.

Trade & Promotion Analytics

Conduct pre- and post-event analysis of promotional investment, volume lift, trade rate, ROI, and effectiveness.

Develop customer, brand, and promotional benchmarks to improve future investment decisions.

Analyze trade investment across customers, brands, SKUs, programs, and investment types and identify actionable trends, risks, and opportunities.

Support monthly trade reviews with clear performance insights and recommended actions.

Trade Financial Management & Close

Own trade-related monthly close activities, including variance analysis, supporting schedules, and spend-versus-plan visibility.

Partner with Commercial Finance and Accounting to align promotional activity, accruals, deductions, and actual spend with approved programs.

Investigate material variances and coordinate with Sales, Accounting, and Finance to resolve discrepancies, deductions, and documentation gaps.

Maintain visibility into open trade items and support timely reconciliation and resolution while identifying recurring process improvements.

Qualifications & Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Commercial acumen: Understands how customer plans, promotions, pricing, volume, and trade investment drive performance.

Sales partnership: Works with customer-facing teams to improve promotional plans and execute against investment guidelines.

Ownership: Drives trade planning, system processes, and recurring deliverables with accuracy and urgency.

Analytical rigor: Converts trade and promotional data into clear insights and recommended actions.

Cross-functional partnership: Builds strong working relationships across Sales, RGM, Commercial Finance, Accounting, Insights, and IT.

Functional/Technical Skills

Advanced Excel and strong analytical skills.

Strong understanding of trade spend, trade rates, Gross-to-Net, and promotional performance.

Hands-on TPM/planning system experience; administration or super-user experience preferred.

Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar business intelligence tools preferred.

Experience with ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred.

Strong data management, financial analysis, and reporting capabilities.

Familiarity with syndicated data such as SPINS or Nielsen is beneficial but not required.

Pay range $120,000 salary + bonus eligible
