ABOUT QUINCE

Quince is a destination for builders, creators, innovators, and operators who want to come together and challenge the status quo. Our mission is simple: make really high quality essentials for really low prices, fairly and sustainably. We deliver on that mission through a unique manufacturer-to-consumer (M2C) model eliminating the layers of traditional retail that add cost and result in consumers paying more than they need to. We find, build relationships with, and work directly with the manufacturing partners behind some of the world’s finest products. From there, our teams design smart, efficient operational processes and build and deploy proprietary technology, AI, and analytics to help us scale fast.

What began with a small assortment of elevated basics has quickly grown into a cross-category brand spanning apparel, accessories, home goods, and more. Today, tens of millions of people across a growing number of countries come – and return – to Quince because they trust us to deliver.

OUR CULTURE

Quince is a culture built for builders by builders. Our way of working starts with a blank sheet of paper. We question conventional thinking, use technology and data to uncover new opportunities, and move quickly to turn ideas into reality. We aren’t interested in replicating how others do retail. We’re building a better way – at a speed and scale unlike anything that’s been done before.

We dream big and chase the hard problems others shy away from. Rejecting long-held assumptions is part of our company's DNA. Where conventional wisdom says you have to choose – soft or durable, speed or rigor, quality or price – we ask why that trade-off has to exist in the first place.

Our pace is fast and the bar is high because our customers expect a lot from us and we refuse to let them down. We believe the best results come from challenging ourselves, learning from one another, and building on each other's strengths.

Here, responsibility is not determined by role, tenure, or seniority. Every team member - no matter their level - has the opportunity to drive our business and shape our trajectory.

If you’re someone who likes to imagine new possibilities and build better systems rather than plug-in to outdated ones, Quince is the place for you.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate is someone with a high degree of passion for building high-quality, scalable storefront experiences across web and mobile, and a strong understanding of how modern frontend and mobile systems work end-to-end. They're a self-starter, problem-solver, and adept at combining technology and data into best-in-class outcomes. The candidate is energized by solving complex technical and business problems, and consistently effective in making high-judgment decisions at a rapid pace amidst ambiguity. They lead by influence, raise the bar for the engineers around them, and thrive in an environment where candour, speed, and data are highly valued.

Roles & Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end technical design and delivery for major Storefront initiatives across web and mobile — spanning discovery, browse, PDP, cart, checkout, and post-purchase surfaces — from architecture through production.

Partner closely with product, design, and data science to shape roadmap priorities and translate business goals into scalable, well-scoped engineering plans.

Drive technical standards and consistency across the Storefront web and mobile codebases in areas including performance, rendering, accessibility, observability, testing, and maintainability.

Proactively identify and resolve systemic engineering gaps — rendering and performance bottlenecks, reliability risks, and scaling constraints — before they become incidents.

Mentor and grow senior engineers through design reviews, code review, pairing, and direct coaching; actively invest in the technical development of the team.

Define and drive adoption of best practices across frontend and mobile architecture, component and design systems, API integration, and experimentation frameworks.

Champion a high bar for user experience — performance, responsiveness, and accessibility — across ReactJS web and React Native mobile applications.

Collaborate with platform and infrastructure teams to ensure the Storefront stack is built on reliable, well-instrumented foundations.

Drive alignment with engineering leadership and cross-functional counterparts on technical direction, tradeoffs, and delivery milestones.

Experience Required

You have excellent computer science fundamentals

You have 8+ years of frontend and/or mobile development experience, with deep expertise in building high-traffic, customer-facing commerce or consumer experiences.

You have strong expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript and either ReactJS or React Native — most of our experiences are built on these frameworks.

For React Native specialists, we expect familiarity with either native iOS (Swift/Objective-C) or Android (Kotlin/Java) platforms , particularly regarding the architecture of bridge communication and native module integration.

Experience with server-side rendering frameworks (Next.js or equivalent) is a plus for web-focused candidates.

You have experience building and maintaining highly reliable web and/or mobile applications that operate at scale.

You have demonstrated the ability to drive large technical initiatives end-to-end: scoping, sequencing work, aligning stakeholders, and landing impact across quarters.

You have a track record of raising engineering quality on a team — through standards, tooling, documentation, or mentorship — not just shipping features.

You have knowledge of design principles, frontend and mobile architecture fundamentals, state management, quality processes, and estimation techniques.

You have experience with A/B testing frameworks and data-driven experimentation.

You are an advocate for maintaining the highest standards in terms of code quality, performance, latency, and observability.

You understand the hustle of a startup and are good at handling ambiguity.

You can effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

You are a curious, quick learner, scrappy, and someone who loves to experiment.
